1/2 Learning News

Hello Families,
It's hard to believe we have had a whole term together already!
There has been so much growth in our space this term, with lots of the children showing pride as they try new things, continue to discover new words they can read and spell, improve their number skills and build on their relationships with one another.
The children have been so amazing dealing with a couple of very busy weeks to finish term 1, especially swimming, and should be very proud of the patience and resilience they have showed.
Gnarly Neighbours
We were extremely fortunate to have Kaylem from Gnarly Neighbours run skateboard lessons for our children last week. Gnarly Neighbours is a not-for-profit youth group based in Seymour, with free skateboarding lessons and creative workshops available to the public.
The students learnt how to safely hold their boards, stand on them, kick off in order to glide and jump off with both feet. They thoroughly enjoyed their session and learnt so many new skills.
Crazy Sock Day!
The Grade 1/2's loved participating in ‘Strut your Socks’ day, to raise money for Caritas Australia!
It was wonderful to see the children wear the socks they had decorated themselves or other 'crazy' socks and mismatched shoes from home. We enjoy showing them off at a 'fashion parade' in front of the other students.
We also listened to Ivy read the story 4 sandals, 2 feet which highlighted that some children live without basic needs, such as shoes. The children spoke about the challenges the children in the story faced such as homelessness and also reflected on their gratitude for all they have.
Easter Egg Hunt
We had an absolute ball at the Easter egg hunt on Thursday morning. We spent time earlier in the week, making our own Easter baskets and decorating them carefully.
The 1/2's loved watching the kinder children collect their eggs and help them where possible. They also showed a great deal of maturity and generosity while collecting their own eggs, with many sharing if they had more than others, as well as helping their friends and our Nagambie Primary visitors to find eggs.
I wish all our families a safe and restful holiday break and a very happy Easter.
