Foundation

Dear Foundation Families,
An exciting and jam-packed end to Term 1 it has been for our Foundation students! From swimming lessons and Gnarly Neighbours to a party and Easter egg hunts, our learners have had a blast while making memories and building new skills. I am so proud of how excited they are to learn each day and how hard they try when attempting new activities or exploring new concepts.
We had a fun time celebrating Bailey and Massimo's birthday!
Literacy:
In the past fortnight, our students have begun learning to read and write words using the letters m, s, p, t, a, i. Many children have brought home a set of cards in their reader bags and might enjoy practicing making simple words with them over the break. It’s been wonderful to see their progress as they start to put sounds together to form words!
I’ve also created a little homework pack for the children (by their request) which contains some letter formation practise as well as sound activities. This will help reinforce what we have learnt this term.
Maths:
In maths, our Foundation students have been so enthusiastic about counting to 100 everyday. They’ve been learning important concepts such as before and after. They’ve had a great time identifying which numbers come before and after a given number and have been introduced to number lines. They’ve even made their own number lines and filled in the blanks, understanding numbers follow a sequence.
A huge shout-out to our Foundation students for their fantastic effort during swimming! They did an amazing job looking after their belongings and following the unusual routine. All staff are impressed by how well they handled this new experience!
As we wrap up this busy term, we want to thank all our students for their hard work and enthusiasm. It’s been such a joy to watch them grow in confidence and learn in these first few months of the year. We hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break over the holidays. I look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for Term 2!
Lastly, a big thank you our lovely Miss Maree (Easter Bunny)for surprising us with a cute door display this week!
Have a beautiful Easter break!
