Dear Parents and Carers,
The past fortnight has certainly been a time of celebration at St Michael's. Last week we held our annual Cross Country event, which was a huge success. Later in the week, some senior students attended the Winter Sport Trials in Armidale for League, Hockey and Soccer. This resulted in Jack Kenafick being selected to travel to Bathurst early in Term 2 as part of the Diocesan Open Rugby League Team to compete in the Polding selection trials. This week, our talented swimmers - Jack Sullivan, Joe Sullivan, Alex Pettit, Arthur O'Quigley, Malakai Cocking and Georgia Abra, competed at the Polding NSWCPS Swimming Championships at Homebush with some personal best times being recorded. A fabulous fortnight of sport with some fantastic results and memorable experiences for all involved.
Next week is the final week of Term One. The children are very excited at the prospect of the Easter Bunny visiting soon and are very much looking forward to the upcoming holiday break. The April meeting of the P&F will be held at 3.30 p.m. in the Year 4 classroom on Wednesday April 9. The dinner party scheduled for Saturday May 31, will be the top agenda item. If you are able to attend the meeting, we look forward to welcoming you. Our meetings are always over within the hour and your input will be greatly appreciated.
On Friday April 11, we will gather in St Michael's Church at 9.30 a.m. for the Easter Liturgy followed by the Easter Hat Parade in the COLA area and BYO picnic lunch in the school grounds. Remember, parents and friends can order lunch through our online ordering system. Orders must be placed via the COMPASS App by 1.30 p.m. on Thursday April 10.
ANZAC Day falls in the upcoming school holidays. We look forward to our usual gathering of students and parents/carers as we participate in the Manilla March and Commemorative Service. For families who are able to attend, we will meet outside the Manilla Services Club at 10.30 a.m. ready for the March to commence at 10.45 a.m. Students participating in the March are required to wear their summer unform, with correct shoes and socks please. Our students always look splendid at community events and our annual turn out for ANZAC Day is no exception.
Term 2 will commence for students on Wednesday May 30. Staff will return to work on Monday May 28 and participate in consecutive staff development days. Monday will be a spirituality day with a focus on Prayer and Tuesday will be a curriculum day with a focus on English and Mathematics planning and pedagogy.
We look forward to a wonderful last week of Term One next week. We hope to see many of you at our Easter Litugy and Easter Hat Parade on Friday.
Enjoy a wonderful weekend,
Bronwyn
