Library News

Farewell and Congratulations!

At the end of Term 1, I will be finishing up as the East Doncaster Secondary College Library Coordinator as I begin a new adventure at a new school. I have enjoyed working with the students and staff at EDSC on the many programs that are run out of the library, and I am grateful to have learnt so much during my time here.

I congratulate Emily Andersen, our Librarian, as she steps into the Acting Library Coordinator role from the beginning of Term 2. I know the library is in excellent hands and will continue to have a positive impact on the teaching and learning experiences at EDSC.

A few words from Ms Andersen:

I am very excited to be Acting Library Coordinator from Term 2 onwards. I joined EDSC as a Librarian towards the end of 2019 and have loved supporting reading and learning in this vibrant school community over the past five years.

I’m passionate about school libraries and the important role they play in developing students’ literacies and engagement in reading, as well as being a safe, welcoming, and fun space that contributes to student wellbeing. The library team will continue to present the EDSC Reading Challenge, Book Week, and other activities that give our fantastic students and staff an opportunity to celebrate books and reading.

I wish Ms Williams all the best in her next exciting role outside of EDSC. I will miss her dearly and thank her for all her work and wisdom. She leaves the EDSC Library in an excellent place, and the library team looks forward to building on her exceptional service to our school.

We wish everyone a happy and safe school holiday break.

Kathryn Williams
