Message from the Principal

Dear Families,
As we near the end of Term 1, it's a timely moment to reflect on all that we've accomplished together. This term has been full of activity and growth, and it's thanks to the support, dedication, and energy of our incredible staff. We deeply appreciate the trust and commitment our families continue to show in our school and teachers. Your feedback, patience, and participation are greatly valued.
There is so much to celebrate, from successful swimming events and Year 6 Camp to the exciting new learning approach in English, Mathematics, and Religious Education through the Magnify Project.
Next week, we will come together as a learning community to raise funds for CARITAS and celebrate our runners with the Big Water Walk and Cross Country events. We will also join in prayer for the Stations of the Cross as we continue our journey of preparation for Easter. We invite you to participate in these meaningful events, which are so important to our school community.
Visit from our local MP - Gaelle Broad
On Tuesday, our Student Leaders had the pleasure of welcoming our local Member, Gaelle Broad, to St. Therese's. During her visit, Gaelle presented some of our Student Leaders with new Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. Gaelle was excited to learn more about the Magnify Project and the inspiring work being done in Catholic schools. We are grateful for both the new flags and the encouraging words Gaelle shared with our school and community.
Magnify Sandhurst
Next week our entire staff will gather with several other Catholic Schools for the Classroom Mastery Teachers Masterclass. On this day we will work together to fine tune our Behaviour Curriculum and routines that will continue to promote calm and orderly classroom behaviours. These routines include how we enter and exist the classroom consistently across the school.
Senior Toilet Refurbishment.
Exciting News! We are thrilled to announce that the tender process is now complete, and we’re ready to begin the Senior Toilet refurbishment project! The successful builder for this project is Precise Build, and we look forward to collaborating with Tim and his team.
Work will begin during the first week of the school holidays, with the project scheduled for completion by mid-May. During this time, Senior students will use the toilets in the Alison Arts Centre, which also houses the disabled toilet. While any building works can bring about some disruption to our usual routines, we’ll ensure the students receive plenty of support and reminders to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
The new design provides a clear line of vision for staff when supervising the area, privacy for students, better airflow, and cubicles that are easier to clean. Thank you to B3 Architects, who have been amazing to work with. This project is part-funded by a CESL Capital Supplementary Grant, with the remaining costs covered by our school.
Principal Lighthouse Awards
This week's recipient is: Eli
On Yr 6 camp Eli was the champion of his group, supporting his teammates, encouraging them to be their best and also challenging himself to try everything and move way beyond his comfort zone.
Supervision Hours (Repeat)
Please note the schoolyard is unsupervised before 8:30 am. There are many, many children on the grounds prior to this time. For the safety of your children, I am asking that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30 am.
School Crossing
Thank you to the parents and school community members who have voiced their concerns regarding the Lowndes St School Crossing and have sent letters of concern to the COGB. I am so grateful for your support with this issue.
We have been informed that the Crossing superior support will conclude at the end of this term. I strongly urge you to talk to your children about road safety and, where possible, walk your children across Lowndes St.
As a school, we will continue to discuss road safety with our students and have staff on duty before and after school.
Easter Raffle
A big thank you to families who have donated Easter Eggs and activities for our Easter Raffle. It's not too late to make any donations or to purchase tickets for the Raffle via the My School Connect app or with money at the Office.
