YEAR 5

FROM THE CLASSROOM
Our Grade 5 students have been working hard across all areas of learning this week.
In Mathematics, students have built on their knowledge of fractions, decimals and percentages. Specifically working on being able to compare and convert different amounts. Students explored this concept through engaging in real-life situations, such as cooking!
In Writing, students have been revising different writing tools that they have been exposed to all year. This has helped better prepare them for their next Talk for Writing text, which they will start learning next week.
In Reading, we have continued studying the text 'The Lost Thing'. We have explored how the text is written in first-person and compared it to the text 'Where the Wild Things Are', which is written in third-person. We continued making connections between the text and ourselves, our world and other texts that we know.
In Inquiry, students have been learning how to identify persuasive techniques used in advertisements and thinking of how they are going to use advertisements to promote their own Business Innovation stall.
