FROM THE CLASSROOM  

What a great week of learning it has been in Prep!

In Investigations we explored where eggs come from and the process of getting them from the farm to our tables. Through play-based learning stations, they investigated the different stages of egg production.

In Phonics, students began reading and writing multisyllabic words and strategies to decode and sound out longer words. They were exposed to the suffix '-ed' to represent something or an action that has already happened. 

In Reading, students explored new vocabulary and practiced identifying the main idea of their mentor text. They used picture clues to make inferences about what was happening and asked and answered questions to deepen their understanding of the stories we read together. Students also continued writing their information reports through Talk for Writing, creating their own information texts about an animal of their choosing.

In Mathematics students explored mass through hands-on activities, using hefting and weight scales to compare objects. They compared classroom items and toys, and practiced using mathematical language such as 'heavier' and 'lighter' to describe and explain their observations.

Honey Joys Week 6

Next week, we will be making Honey Joys to link our learning about where honey comes from and how we use animal products. If your child has an allergy or intolerance that we should be aware of, please contact your child’s teacher .

Morning Arrival Times

A big thank you to our families for supporting students to arrive at school on time. Getting to school on time helps to create a calm and settled start to the day with fewer interruptions to learning. We would love all students to be in their classrooms by 8:35 am, as some classes use this time to organise and begin morning activities before formal learning starts at 8:45 am.
