Updates to the Student Dress Code Policy

To support families and make uniforms more affordable, the Department of Education has updated the Student Dress Code Policy. These changes will take effect from 2026.

Why the Dress Code Exists

The Student Dress Code helps to:

  • build a sense of identity, pride and belonging
  • promote equality among students
  • reduce bullying and competition related to clothing
  • ensure students’ appearance reflects school community expectations
  • strengthen our school’s profile in the wider community
  • support student safety and security
  • ensure students are dressed appropriately for learning and school activities
  • prepare young people for workplace expectations

What’s Changing in 2026

Most uniform requirements remain the same, but there are key updates to pants, shorts and PE track pants/shorts:

School Pants and Shorts

  • Students are no longer required to purchase Reservoir High School–branded trousers and shorts.
  • Students who prefer to wear shorts and trousers must wear grey tailored shorts or trousers, which may be purchased from any retailer.
  • The Reservoir High School branded versions will still be available from Academy Uniforms.
  • Shorts and trousers must be logo-free, unless the logo is the official Reservoir High School logo.

PE Uniform

  • Students may wear plain navy blue tracksuit pants or shorts with no visible brand names.
  • Reservoir High School branded PE items will continue to be available from Academy Uniforms.

Other Uniform Items

All other uniform items must continue to be official Reservoir High School uniform pieces. A copy of the updated Student Dress Code Policy is attached for your reference.

Additional Options

Academy Uniforms now offers long-sleeve shirts and a long-sleeve PE polo for students who prefer extra coverage and warmth.
