Gratitude
At John Paul II, we are learning about gratitude as part of The Resilience Project. Gratitude means taking time to notice and appreciate the things that make us feel happy and thankful — big and small! We focus on what we have, instead of what we don't have.
When we practise gratitude, we start to focus on what’s going well in our lives instead of what might be going wrong. This helps us to feel more positive, calm, and connected to the people around us.
Some examples of showing gratitude might be:
- Saying “thank you” to a friend who helps you.
- Noticing a sunny day or playing a fun game at break time.
- Feeling thankful for your family, your teacher, or your favourite book.
At home, you can try a simple gratitude activity: before you go to bed, share three things that went well today. It could be as simple as “I had toast at school this morning,” “I played with my friends,” or “I learned something new.”
By practising gratitude every day, we can build stronger, happier minds, so let's practise together - ask your kids!
