Teaching Staff for 2026

As the year comes to a close, at school, it is one of the busiest times of the year, including finalising staff for 2026.

I would like to let the school community know that Mrs McBride, Miss Mawby and Mrs Jacobs are all spreading their wings to further develop their teaching careers. I have always supported teachers to continue to try new things and sometimes that means trying a new school, and learning from new people. We wish them all the best for their 2026 teaching year, and may see them back here in the future, welcoming them back with open arms.

With this being said, I can now let families and students know that we have employed two new teachers for the 2026 school year. Mrs Claire Lofts comes to us from Ararat 800 and Mr Pierre Lloga from Mount Pleasant PS in Ballarat. We will meet both these teachers on our Statewide Orientation Day on Tuesday 9th December.

We have recently advertised and internally filled some leadership positions for 2026. Congratulations to ...

Learning Specialist (Literacy) - Miss W

Learning Specialist (Numeracy) - Mr Ward

Mental Health & Wellbeing Leader - Mrs J

Mr Shuttleworth will remain the Lead Teacher (Student Wellbeing).

I published our class structure for 2026 in last week's newsletter and will be publishing the teachers of each class in our next newsletter. Classes are still being finalised and will not be completed until after Statewide Transition Day.

Bike Ed/Challenge Day/Raglan Ride

Our Year 3 to 6 students are currently taking part in the annual Bike Ed program. This will come to a close on Wednesday 3rd (3/4s) and Thursday 4th (5/6) with our 3/4 Bike Challenge and 5/6 Raglan Ride.

The Bike Challenge takes place at school, where students spend an hour practising the skills learnt at Bike Ed. Students are encouraged to bring extra food and water on this day, as it can be very tiering.

Information regarding the Raglan Ride will be out later this week, including permission forms. Please ensure these are completed on XUNO before the event.

Curriculum Days for 2026

At our last school council, the members approved the following curriculum and student free days in 2026.

Term 1 - January 27th (DoE) and 28th

Term 2 – Week 8 (½ day PL and ½ day report writing

Term 2 – TBD

Term 3 – Week 6

Term 4 – 1st Friday Dec (½ Day PL and ½ Day report writing)

Term 4 – Last Day of 2026.

All students will commence the school year on Thursday 29th January.

Book Lists

Next week, students will be bringing home their 2026 book lists. These are priced locally, however, parents are welcome to purchase from any provider. We do ask that specific notice is taken to the writing thirds, as different year levels have different sized lines.  Teachers will also be distributing any unused resources from this year.

Additionally, with the book list, we will be sending home the 2026 Curriculum Contribution. This contribution helps the school purchase online learning platforms, photocopying, ICT repairs and classroom materials. They go 100% to classroom learning and resources.

Payments of students 2025 Curriculum Contributions are still payable via XUNO.

Shelter In Place

Today, students and staff conducted a drill of our emergency Shelter In Place procedure. Given our rural location, it is essential to have a designated safe area for sheltering in the event of an emergency. This designated space includes our main school building and the gymnasium. During this process, students are positioned away from windows and are seated in a calm and orderly manner, with the option to continue their work if appropriate.

As part of our annual update to our Emergency Management Plan and safety procedures, Beaufort Primary School has been classified at a Category 4 Bushfire and Grassfire school. Beaufort Secondary College and Elizabeth Watkins Childcare and Early Learning Centre have also been placed in this same category.

Due to this classification, and in alignment with Australian Fire Danger Ratings System, which took effect in September 2022, the school must close of days forecasted as ‘Catastrophic’ by the Bureau of Meteorology within our designated for district. This means that there are to be no student, staff, contract workers etc. on site on this day. Parents will be notified the day prior or as soon as the school is informed. If the rating is downgraded over night or during the next day, the school will remain closed, as directed by Emergency Management at the Department of Education. If we experience a large number of ‘Catastrophic’ days, the school will consider sending home learning packs with all students to complete on these days.

Additionally, we all have a ‘Shelter in Place’ plan which means, should we be directed to ‘shelter in place’ we must:

  • Bring all students into the main building of the school, including students who currently learn in the portable classroom spaces, outside of PE or in the Art room.
  • Students will sit together, away from the external doors and windows.
  • Airspaces under doors will be blocked by wet towels
  • Face masks will be made available to all students and staff if smoke gets heavy.
  • Any parents who arrive to collect students will be required to remain at the school with us and ‘shelter in place’ until it is deemed safe to leave.
  • Once the fire threat has passed, we will follow the directives of emergency services and evacuate our students to the nearest identified community meeting place.

Should you have any questions, or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

End of Term Reports

Teachers are currently completing end of year assessments and reports. These will be uploaded to XUNO on Thursday 18th December. Parents who have requested hard copies will also receive these on that day.
