A note from Mr Jackson

As we conclude another remarkable year at Rosanna Primary School, I am delighted to share the amazing journey we have undertaken in 2025. Our school community has experienced significant milestones, heartwarming transitions, and continued growth that exemplify our commitment to holistic education.
An Evening on the Oval
Friday 5 December
Thanks to those who joined the relaxed moment in the frenzied conclusion to the 2025 year last Friday night. For those that trimmed the lawn, face painted, handed out pizza and generally helped out we are grateful. The focus was celebration of community and proved a gentle space to stay in touch with each other. Everyone who attended were appreciative of the experience.
Meet the Teacher Session Builds Foundation for 2026
Monday 8 December
The transition to our 2026 academic year has been carefully planned with a range of supportive strategies. Students from Year 1 through to Year 6 participated in their third transition session on Monday. This session entitled ‘Meet the Teacher’ was designed to ease their progression to new learning environments. Many of our new teachers were present, enabling the establishment, renewal, and strengthening of relationships between peers and teaching staff. We acknowledge that these transitions naturally bring a level of anxiousness and nerves, which we recognize as a fundamental part of the human experience and an opportunity for personal growth.
Students Supported with Handovers
Wednesday 10 December
Our dedicated staff have been instrumental in facilitating these transitions in support of teachers. On Wednesday evening, teachers met to provide comprehensive handovers, sharing backgrounds and insights about students they taught in 2025, with the 2026 teaching team. A special thanks is extended to our disability inclusion team, who have developed numerous differentiated transitionary strategies to support students' success. Their work underpins our commitment to ensuring every student feels supported and empowered as they move forward in their educational journey.
Graduation Preparation
Monday 15 December
Year 6 students stand on the cusp of an exciting educational transition, preparing to graduate and bid farewell to their primary school years.
On Monday evening, we will host a special graduation ceremony that symbolizes their remarkable journey. During this significant event, students will share their memory books and deliver personal speeches, reflecting on the moments and experiences that have shaped their early educational years. These presentations will serve as a tribute to their growth, showcasing the memories, friendships, and learning that have defined their time at Rosanna Primary School.
Kaboom Sports Celebration
Wednesday 17 December 9:00am to 11:00am
Please make sure that you have ensured your child’s participation in the Kaboom Sports activities. Consent and payment can be made on Qkr! Students will participate in this mini Olympic experience on the oval, so ensure your child comes with a hat and consider some sunscreen.
Final Assembly
Friday 19 December at 12:40pm
The upcoming assembly will be a celebration of achievements and transitions. We will announce the 2026 Student Leadership Team, bid farewell to departing students, and celebrate the outgoing representatives of the Junior School Council and Sustainability Team.
Students will have the opportunity to express their gratitude to teachers who have been with us in 2025 but will not be returning next year. Some teachers have been on leave, seeking employment elsewhere, or completing contractual periods. The final school-wide Positive Behaviour Awards will recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional character and commitment. Of particular note will be the farewell to Year 6 students.
Early Dismissal on Final School Day
Friday 19 December at 1:30pm
A reminder to parents that school will finish early on the final day of term at 1:30pm. Students are able to be booked in to TheirCare, for parents or carers who are unable to attend the early pickup. Supervision in the yard will conclude at 1:45pm. There is no capacity for students to be held in the office after this time, so parents and carers are encouraged to be prompt.
Canteen’s Last Week
Final Day Friday 12 December
We will close lunch orders for the coming week but over the counter sales will continue from Monday to Thursday. The Canteen will close on the Friday.
Ongoing Facilities Upgrades
Our school infrastructure is also evolving to support our community. Over the coming weeks, we will be undertaking significant facility improvements.
The accessible ramp program will continue throughout the holidays. The front gate access will be temporarily restricted due to the installation of new rails, and ramps leading from the basketball court to Bellevue Avenue will begin in the final week of term.
A new storage container will be placed adjacent to the green shed on the oval, to house spare chairs, tables, and school furniture. Additionally, we will be conducting essential maintenance, including redistributing soil beneath the northern end of the administration building to improve air ventilation and installing mechanical fans. The northern end of the administration building will be levelled at this time.
As we prepare to welcome the new year, we are particularly excited about the ongoing improvements to our facilities. The Chandler Hall and Music Room will receive new carpet. Over the past year, we have already seen roof repairs and repainting in this space, and the addition of new carpet will complete the refreshment of these important school spaces enjoyed by all.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our teachers, staff, parents, and students who have made 2025 a remarkable year of growth, learning, and community. As we bid farewell to our Year 6 students and look forward to the exciting opportunities of 2026, we remain committed to providing a supportive, inclusive, and enriching educational environment.
