SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
It has been a smooth start to Headstart this week, with staff and students settling into their new classes with enthusiasm. We started the week with a whole school assembly and our new captains did an excellent job in running the assembly. The theme was Headstart – Restart: taking the opportunity to make a fresh start and create positive impressions in new classes over the next couple of weeks.
Headstart classes for 2026 Year 8 – 10 students will finish on Wednesday, Dec 10, followed by the Big Day Out, which is the final day of the Headstart Program. This celebration day at Fountain Gate on Dec 11 is a very popular event and is fully subscribed. Families who wish to send their students to school after this can opt into the Activities Program for the last week, finishing on Thursday Dec 18.
GPA Progress Reports were published for Term 4 this week. The overall average for the College was a pleasing 3.29 with 10 students receiving a perfect 4.0 GPA. All year levels averaged above 3.0, which shows a commitment to positive learning behaviours. The number of chronicles for major and minor misbehaviours has also decreased by 1/3 compared to last year, demonstrating that our focus on School Wide Positive Behaviours is having a positive impact.

The SGSMP Summer Music Festival concludes on Thursday Dec 11 with a showcase concert at Mesley Hall at 7 pm. This concert is a highlight of the year for the South Gippsland Schools Music Program as the students collaborate across combined schools over the festival to produce some outstanding music. Anyone is welcome to attend and I encourage our community to come along and hear the quality of music being produced by students across the region.
We look forward to celebrating student achievement at our Presentation Night on Tuesday, Dec 16, with a Sausage Sizzle starting at 5.45 pm, giving families an opportunity to enjoy some social time (and a free meal) before the formal part of the evening, which starts at 7 pm. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available.
Please continue to inform us if your student is absent over the next couple of weeks so that we have explained all absences. This is an important focus for schools across our Network as we strive to understand why students are not at school. Please call the school or use Compass to explain all student absences, which is a parent obligation. Thanks for your cooperation.
