Physical Education

Hi Families,
Wow what an amazing year of PE and Sport we have had this year.
Some of the highlights for me have been:
- Seeing the preps settle so well this year and really engage in the program
- The growth in the 1 and 2 students in their fundamental skills
- The round robin tournaments for the different types of games the year 3's have been so keen to dive into.
- The year 4's enjoying their first year of interschool sport.
- The year 5 SEPEP program
- The year 6 SEPEP program, how engaged with volleyball the majority of the cohort have been, particularly at lunchtimes.
Sport-wise
- Our House events - Cross Country, 4-6 trials day and Twilight Sports
- State Volleyball team
- Regional Girls Netball
- The amount of teams getting to division - Cricket, Tennis, Mixed netball, basketballhas shown some great dedication to their sport
There have been so many moments and I could keep going! I thank all of the students for being so willing to learn new things and engaging in the various programs that we have run.

Basketball Tops
Last call for any basketball tops, if they could be returned to the PE office.
Year 5 SEPEP Sessions
Once again our year 5 have been engaged in their SEPEP program. We had our finals on Thursday and both Phoenix teams won in both classes. There was a very tight match that went into overtime and then Golden Goal. It was so great to see the students get so engaged and behind every role they were given and participated really well in a sport they don't play regularly. I look forward to repeating this program next year with them with a new sport.
Some of the short articles our media representatives have written about the games while watching are below:
Vipers and Phoenix in the first game of week 3. Isaac has an early shot but is blocked by Ben and the Vipers get it out. Hugo has another shot for the Viper and just misses Ben, throws it long and gets it to Hugo A and he has a shot but he holds it for too long . Isaac gets a full court shot but to far out subs are on now.
Ben for the viper sorayajosh up the court he shoots gets it and passes to will who scores for the Phoenix 1– to the Phoenix. Josh up the court for the Phoenix gets blocked and then has a shot but misses . Half time 1-0 to the Phoenix. Pheonix start and josh shoots but misses Darcy up the court by josh fouls . Josh gets it up rtrhe court and passes to Alexander who scores 2-0 to the Phoenix . Phoenix out of the middle Alexander again but misses Darcy turnover on the throw-in but then hudgo turn it over . subs. Pio restarts for the vipers and turns it over to alexander and passes will who scores 3-0 Ben turns it over pio enters the area darcy for the vipers and scores full time 3-1 Rhys- thankyou. - Isaac
Phoenix and Dragons are fighting and then Phoenix scores a goal in the first 13 seconds and then another !!! Then Dragons get a goal but it is disallowed. They make some subs but nothing really then happens for the rest of the half. Phoenix are winning 2-0 at half time. The half starts and then Phoenix scores a goal but again it’s disallowed. Then Phoenix scored a goal and then they scored another 4-0!!! Then they score another and another 6-0 what an amazing game. The goal has just flipped over, the game is paused for a bit.Dragons scored a goal to make it 6-1 but in reality the game is over. Thankyou.- Rhys
Vipers and dragons are both against each other. Vipers have the first point in the first half of the game. Both teams fighting to get the ball in and out of the viper goal with a phoenix knocking it in.shelan smashes the ball in the phoenixes net like a really champ securing the win for the vipers.end game with the phoenixes at 1 and vipers winning at 2. -Lachlan
Vipers and Dragons are up against each other and they each score a goal in the first 2 minutes. VIpers make 2 goals back to back to each other.they are both fighting for the ball and then Vipers trap the ball. After that the Dragons almost scored. Its half time at 4-1 Vipers lead. The next half starts and Dragons start and then Shelan get the steal and scores a goal 5-1. Shelan is cooking. He has scored 4 goals out of the 5 goals that vipers had. Vipers have been the clear dominant team so far. Dax scores a goal for the Vipers making it 6-1. And the vipers take the win at 6-1 at full time. -Pio R
Year 6 SEPEP Program
In Year 6 we run the same program but with a different sport - Flag Football. This enables the students to develop the off field skills they learnt last year in year 5 and adapt it to a new sport. Flag Football has been another great sport to run this program with as not many students have seen or played the sport, so the students are on a level playing field.
We played our finals last week, unfortunately due to weather and particular days landing on the year 6 program we had less time than we would have liked. However the Vipers coincidentally also won in both classes this year! The student voted MVPs will be awarded this week.
Below is what one of our students that had a PR role this week, had to say.
In PE this term Year 6 have been participating in the SEPEP Unit. Our sport we have been playing and putting lots of effort into is Flag football which is similar to NFL and touch football but a bit different. We were all split into groups - Dragons, Vipers and Phoenix. In the end we worked really well and I had lots of fun working hard and enjoying playing a sport I haven’t played before! - Andrew
Volunteer Thank you!
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone that has volunteered to coach a team, score, manage a team, cheer on the sidelines, this year. Running these days are quite huge, and they can not be made possible without the assistance of volunteers, so thank you!
Hopefully many of you are keen to come back again next year!
Stay safe, keep active
