Hello from 1S

It has been a busy and exciting year and term in 1S! We have laughed, learned and loved being a grade this year.

In Phonics, students have been learning about suffixes and exploring how they change the meaning of words. In Writing, we have been creating our own narratives and learning about different sentence types, inspired by the books Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge and Looking After Country with Fire.

In Mathematics, we continue to build our confidence through daily retrieval practice. Students have been revising counting, addition and subtraction strategies, as well as learning how to identify and count Australian money.

During Science and Inquiry, we spent the beginning of the term learning about different community helpers and the important roles they play. More recently, we have been investigating how heat can change different types of food—always an exciting hands-on learning experience!

We are looking forward to finishing our year with our excursion and enjoying some special time together before we go our separate ways.
