International Student Update

Student-led Conference:

On November 19, Mordialloc College successfully held its annual Student-Led Conferences for Year 7–9 students. During these conferences, students presented their learning achievements from throughout the year. They shared their academic growth, cultural experiences, and personal reflections, demonstrating confidence of their learning journey.

One of our students, Stella DU, would like to share her learning and school experiences over the past year through a PowerPoint presentation, confidently showing her growth and achievements. This meaningful event provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop communication skills, build pride in their progress, and strengthen the partnership between school and families.

Gumbuya World Excursion

On November 21, our ILC students joined the Junior students from the mainstream school for a trip to Gumbuya World to celebrate the successful completion of the school year.

Now, let’s take a look at reflections from our students, who only joined our Language Centre in Term 4.

Yiqing (Kaylee) LIU:

On Thursday the 20th of November 2025, I went to Gumbuya World with my classmates.

I brought my phone, sandwich, water bottle and my card.

In the morning I saw the snakes and touched them. I played on the small roller coaster first, it was fun. Then we played on the swing ride. Actually this was exciting because it can rise from a low point and rotate at high speed. And it began to rain and wind when I finished, my hair was wet. And we went to play a big roller coaster, it was exciting too! Then we ten people played on the bumper cars together. And the morning was finished.

In the afternoon I went to watch the animals with Stella. We saw the snakes, lizards, goldfish and tortoise. We also saw the white kangaroos, koalas, parrots, ducks, sheep, penguins and peacocks. I fed the sheep and goat. They are so crazy, when I took the feed they all followed me.

I really really liked this excursion, because it was fun and had lots of animals. And I went on four rides. Unfortunately, I didn’t play on the spinning rides.

Shunyu (Wilson) LI:

On Thursday 20th November, I went to Gumbuya World with my classmates.

In the morning, I brought my bottle of water and some snacks.

At first we waited at the bridge for other students and the bus. We all talked or did other things while we waited, but I needed to care for Dat because he is the youngest of the international students and I am the eldest .

When we arrived at Gumbuya World, we touched so many animals like snakes and lizards. They're so quiet and cute. We went on the roller coaster, I played with Alex. When the roller coaster started so many girls screamed loudly and Alex screamed loudly too. And then we went to the bumper cars, we all had one car to drive. We took photos together.

Dat said he wanted to go swimming .At first I didn't want to go swimming. But Dat really wanted to swim. Finally I agreed to his request.

In the end we went back to our school. I enjoyed the day because I had a great time with my friends, and I learned how to care for others.

Dat NGUYEN:

On Thursday the 20th of November2025, I went to Gumbaya World with my classmates.

I brought with me:

• A mobile phone.
• A water bottle .
• A towel.
• T-shirt, shorts and money.

In the morning:

• I didn't go on the roller coaster or bumper car, 
• But I took photos and touched Australian animals like the White Kangaroo, Snake.

In the afternoon:

• I went swimming because I like swimming.
• After that, I took photos and walked in the park with my classmates.
• Then we got bored so we rode bumper cars.

 After going back to school. Ms Mao allowed my class to go back home early. But I must wait for my cousin ;)

I enjoyed the day. Because I really like the Gumbaya world and I would chill ;}

Three things I learned.

• Shouldn't bring lots of items.
• Should bring wet wipes.
• Should bring an umbrella.
