Highton Primary School was delighted to welcome the Tour de Cure team during their 2025 Victorian Discovery Tour last Tuesday. The riders shared their inspiring ‘Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy’ presentation, which our students thoroughly enjoyed. Tour de Cure expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and were pleased to see our students so engaged in learning about healthy lifestyle choices. The tour has raised an impressive $570,000 so far, supporting the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute in its vital work to improve cancer treatments and search for cures. We thank Tour de Cure for their visit and the positive message they shared with our school community.

What a Day! – 2025 Colour Run

What an amazing afternoon we shared at the Colour Run! The event was a massive success, and we extend our deepest gratitude to the organizers- Kim and Monica, Parent Club and all the dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to put together an spectacular course. This wonderful afternoon of fun and colour was more than just a memorable experience. The funds raised go directly towards the completion of our major playground upgrade project, specifically the replacement of the Junior playground. This magnificent achievement, fueled by the fundraising efforts of our community and the strategic work of our School Council, is a powerful testament to our school’s incredible community spirit. Thank you for helping us ensure our students have up-to-date and engaging play facilities. We are certain today will be a cherished memory of primary school for so many students!

Gratitude and Early Season’s Greetings

As this week marks my final one at school before I take leave to recuperate from hand surgery, I want to take a moment to share the immense gratitude I feel for every member of our incredible community. While I will miss the end of year activities and festivities, I know the school is in exceptionally capable hands with Tracy Thornton stepping in as Acting Principal for the remainder of the year.

This year has been extraordinary, especially watching our teaching staff in action. Their commitment to being true lifelong learners has been magnificent, taking on the sizeable challenge of transitioning from a balanced literacy approach to more explicit instruction. The sheer mountain of work completed in redeveloping a new scope and sequence, units of study, and lesson plans while implementing a fundamentally different approach speaks volumes about their dedication. A massive thank you to our team.

To our Parent Club, thank you for fostering a truly fun and dedicated group of parents to work with. You are actively building a warm, inclusive community where all our children can learn and create wonderful primary school memories. And to our School Council, I have so appreciated your partnership and your 'can-do' attitude. The way you consistently place the wellbeing of our students, staff, and community at the centre of every decision and piece of guidance is a source of great comfort and strength.

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a fun-filled summer holiday. I look forward to reconnecting in the new year!

Stay Well
