OUR SOCCER SUPERSTARS!

On Wednesday the 28th May the MRPS Year Five and Six girls and boys soccer teams went to play in the Eureka Division Soccer Tournament at Morshead Park.  The girl’s team had five games to play against other schools who were part of the competition. We won three, lost one and drew another of our five games.  We were so ecstatic to finish at the top of the ladder with the most points!  Sienna Primary School finished second to us which meant that we had to play them in the GRAND FINAL!  Our school boys team were great supporters and cheered us on when we scored our one goal for the match.  At the end of the game we were 1-1 and had to play extra time!  After eight minutes extra Sienna kicked another goal to win the game.  We were a little bit disappointed but we had played as hard as we could and tried our very best!  It was an amazing day getting to know the other girls in the team and work together to play well.  We would like to thank Katherine for entering us so we could attend, Mr. Brown for supporting us, the boys soccer team and Miss Em for being the coach.

The girls who played in the tournament were, Brooke J, Grace S, Ivy F, Jordynn M, Abbey P, Zara F, Addy P, Addy S, Annabelle P, Misty P, Evelyn M and Johanna H.

2025 SCHOOL SOCCER

On Wednesday the 28th of May the year 5 /6 boys had set off to Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility to represent our school.  Our first game was against Mount Blowhard at 9:50am.  It was a tight game and it ended up being a tie with the scores level, 1-1.  Our next game was in two hours so we ate our snack and cheered on the girls.  In our next game we were versing St. Pats and they arrived 3 minutes late!  It was another close game and we tied again 1-1.  We waiting another hour to play our next game so we practised and watched the girls play.  The final match was played against Lumen Christie and it was our best one yet!  We won 7-0!  After we finished we went to the TV to see if we got into the Semi Finals but we just missed out.  We finished the day watching the girls verse Sienna.  Unfortunately they lost the Grand Final so we came home at 2:30pm.

We would like to thank a few people who made the day possible!

Thanks to Ms. Wood,

thanks to all the people who kicked goals for us,

Division Netball Tournament

On Friday the 6th June, the netballers went to Selkirk Stadium to play against other schools. Both the girls and the mixed team played four games. When one team wasn’t playing, they would go and support the other Miners Rest team. The mixed team only won one game but that’s ok because we tried our hardest and that’s all that matters!

Thank-you to Emily for coaching us.

When we got there we sat our bags down and watched some of the other schools, before heading off to play our first game. Then we found out we were playing Sienna. Luckily, we won 25-0! After that, we played St Michaels, winning against them as well. The scores were 9-2. We played a few other games, after the end of what we thought was out last game, Miss Hunt announced we had made the grand final! We rushed there and began playing straight away. It was so intense! The final siren rang, I looked up at the score board and we won by a point! Everyone jumped for joy.

Thanks to Miss Hunt for coaching us.
