3-4TG

Term 2 has started off very well in 3-4TG!

We have returned after a lovely Easter break to gorgeous weather and a more settled and focused classroom. During Term 1, we concentrated strongly on establishing our classroom routines and behaviour expectations and the students are striving to live these daily.

All students are doing their best to remain focused, engaged and ready to learn. It is so pleasing to see our PBL lessons, shared expectations and solid daily routines/reminders make a big difference in the students' organisational skills, their readiness to begin lessons and their growth in resilience and self-confidence.

WATER CYCLE POSTERS

Last term, we learned a lot about the Water Cycle, which was very interesting.

We explored a lot of new vocabulary, such as “precipitation”, “condensation” and “transpiration”. To conclude our many weeks of study, the students composed and wrote informative paragraphs about each stage of the water cycle, edited their writing, drew pictures and headings and spent time putting it all together to create a large Water Cycle poster! These are on display in our hallway and have featured in our Seesaw journal.

They are fantastic and the students were super proud  of their efforts. :)

DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY KIDS!

Recently our school participated in the District Cross Country. Some students from Years 3-6 had qualified for this event during our SJV Cross Country. From our class, five students headed off on the bus to run like they have never run before! We congratulate the efforts of Mason, Lucas, Andi, Zoey and Jessie.

CLASS MASS & FAMILY PORTRAITS

Our class Mass last week focused on the theme of FAMILIES, to honour the International Day of Families on Thursday the 15th of May. We decided to create some Family Portraits while reflecting on what our families mean to us. The students then composed and read out a sentence or two about their families. The portraits were very special and all the students spoke beautifully about the love and appreciation they have for their families. It was a lovely Reflection. We then enjoyed a delicious morning tea after Mass in the staff room, with Fr. Harry and some family members joining us. What a great day!

FRACTIONS WORK- MATHS

For the past few weeks, we have been exploring the world of fractions, from counting by fractions, dividing shapes and collections into fractions,  through to identifying equivalent fractions and even converting improper fractions to Mixed Numbers!

The students have persisted through tricky concepts and experienced some “a-ha!” moments of understanding too. All students are challenged in their learning and are offered a range of difficulty level tasks for each new learning concept. Students are usually able to select what level they feel comfortable with, then once confident in their understanding, they are encouraged to take on the challenge of the next level of task. We’ve really enjoyed this unit of learning. These photos show the students completing a range of activities in class, both individually and with partners.
