Term 2 Visual Art

Very soon the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) will begin an exhibition of the work from the French Impressionalists.  In preparation for this show each year level has been learning about their work and using the techniques used by the Impressionalists to inspire our projects.

Foundation

We are in the process of making our own Monet Gardens.  While they need another lesson to finish these off you can see how beautiful they will be when they are finished.

Year 1 and 2

We have finished a weaving actity and they look wonderful.  We had some lovely plump birds.

Currently we are working on a project with oil pastles.  We are trying to use the pastels like the impressionalists used paint, layering colours to create texture and depth.  We cannot wait until these are finished.

Year 3 and 4

We had a great time using water colour markers as if they were the impressionalist paints. We layered the colours, aiming for a textured finish.  We had no idea how our projects would look until we sprayed them with water and let the colours blend.  They became bright beautiful impressionalist master pieces.

Year 5 and 6

We are currently completing impressionalist styled still life paintings.  While we still have a way to go, we are experimenting with ways to apply paint and gain an impressionalist finish.  We hope you like our work so far.
