Principal's News

Dear Families and Friends of Trinity Primary School,

Thanks again for another great week at Trinity! Sometimes these short weeks can actually seem longer than normal as we try and cram 5 days into 4. Our Victorian Curriculum, which we are mandated to cover, can at times feel impossible to get through and so teachers and their students are all working hard each day to cover what has been set out in their Term Learning Overviews.  When we add to this, our specialists lessons, extra curricula activities, and the many things we do not plan for, it is no wonder our children and our teachers are often exhausted by the end of the week. At the end of this term parents will receive their child's written report and this will be followed up with a student led conversation in week 2 of term 3. We have decided to change our normal timing of these meetings so that the focus of the conversations can be the written report as well as goal setting for Semester Two.

Thankyou to all our Support Staff

On Wednesday we had a special celebration for all the support staff at Trinity which includes each of our LSO's and our Admin Staff. Their contribution each day is hard to measure but beautifully captured in the cards written by our students for each of these special staff members.

Principal's Conference Broome

As you know, a few weeks ago, I participated in the South Central Principal's Conference in Broome. Our Focus for the Week was:

  • History and impact of the Catholic Church's relationship with Indigenous communities in the Kimberley region.
  • Indigenous spirituality and connection to country in the Kimberley.
  • Exploring how the Catholic church/faith is experienced and has aligned with Indigenous communities in this area.
  • Understanding culturally responsive education that acknowledges and respects Indigenous knowledge and ways of learning.

Whilst there we had the privelege of visiting two remote schools, Sacred Heart Beagle Bay and Holy Eucharist in Derby.  Each of these communities had there own great strengths and challenges but were filled with children and staff all extremely proud to show us around their schools and talk to us about what learning is like for them.

The takeaways for us were:

  • The importance of reconciliation in Catholic education
  • Further embedding cultural understanding and respect in our schools
  • Listening to and amplifying Indigenous voices
  • Honouring connection to Country in our learning and faith communities
  • Understanding and sharing the challenging and rewarding work being undertaken in Kimberley Catholic schools
  • A shared reflection, dialogue, and commitment to a reconciled future
  • A continued relationship with Sacred Heart Primary School Beagle Bay.

"Looking for a night out that feels good for the heart and soul?"

Here's an invitation to a screening of the documentary SEEN.

It is a powerful exploration of the transformative power of personal healing for parents but also delves into the scientifically supported effects of such healing on parenting and its impact on child brain development.

Tickets are $49.00 which include a sound healing session, live music, drinks, and connection with others who deeply value the emotional wellbeing of children.

It’s a chance to recharge, reflect, and be reminded of the power of presence and connection.

Join us for SEEN: The Film plus More. A beautiful, meaningful evening for parents, carers, and educators. This is more than a movie night. You’re ticket to the experience includes - a welcome drink, canapes, sound healing, live music, a thought-provoking documentary on connection and emotional wellbeing, and a chance to slow down with like-minded people.

Hosted by local educator and consultant (One of our Prep parents) Elise Disher.

Tickets are limited!  https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/seen-the-film-more-richmond-vic-hosted-by-elise-disher-tickets-1397565348579?aff=oddtdtcreator "

Wellbeing - Grounded. by Gracie - EFT Tapping, Mindfulness & Breathwork

We were lucky enough recently to have Gracie work with a number of students and Ms Antonella to provide an introductory workshop involving the techniques of EFT Tapping, Mindfulness and Breathing. We are now looking at the possibility of providing further workshops for our students. Gracie also offers sessions for adults either 1:1 or in groups. If there is enough interest we could also consider running a parent program here at school. There may be a small cost for adults with the school subsidising the sessions. Let us know in the GOOGLE Form HERE if this might be of interest to you.
