Boarding

We are excited to announce the appointment of our new Boarding Prefects for the upcoming year. Congratulations to Jackie Howie, who has been named Head Boarding Prefect, and Lilli Bartlett, our new Deputy Head Boarding Prefect. Jackie and Lilli will officially begin their roles in Term 3 and will lead the Boarding House with enthusiasm and dedication over the next 12 months.

The selection process was both thorough and inspiring. We were fortunate to have fiveoutstanding candidates, each of whom delivered heartfelt and thoughtful speeches to the boarding community before voting took place. We are incredibly proud of all the girls who put themselves forward—not only for roles within the Boarding House but also for wider school leadership opportunities. Their courage, passion, and commitment are truly commendable.

This term has also seen the Sunday Recreation Program continue to grow in popularity. Boarders have enjoyed a variety of memorable experiences, including recent highlights such as a trip to the Zoo and a thrilling afternoon at the high ropes course. These outings have offered wonderful opportunities for fun, connection, and adventure beyond the school grounds.

We look forward to more exciting initiatives and inspiring leadership as we move into the second half of the year.

Weekend Recreational Activities

Ice Skating

This week, the girls embraced the winter chill with a fun-filled trip to the ice skating rink, accompanied by staff member Emily and Gap staff Imy. For some, it was their first time on the ice, and they received plenty of support and helpful tips. For others, it was a great opportunity to show off their skating skills and smooth glides.

The rink was filled with laughter, encouragement, and the occasional slip, making for a memorable afternoon. To wrap up the outing, the group headed to Yo-Chi for a much-requested treat of frozen yoghurt, the perfect way to end a fantastic day out.

Boarders' Adventure at Taronga Zoo

Over the weekend, our Kambala boarders enjoyed a wonderful day out, combining nature, adventure and Sydney’s stunning harbour views. Travelling by ferry across Sydney Harbour from Rose Bay to Mosman, the girls arrived at Taronga Zoo with much excitement and energy for the day ahead.

The first part of the excursion included exploring the zoo’s many exhibits — from giraffes and gorillas to reptiles, koalas and meerkats. The girls took their time observing the animals and learning about the important conservation work being done at Taronga. There was plenty of laughter, photos and “aww” moments along the way.

The highlight of the day, however, was the Tree Tops Adventure High Ropes Course. Suspended high among the treetops and overlooking the zoo and harbour, the girls navigated a series of rope bridges, climbing elements and flying foxes. It was a fantastic way to build confidence, encourage teamwork, and have a lot of fun!

It was a day filled with connection, courage, and unforgettable views — and a wonderful opportunity for our boarders to experience one of Sydney’s iconic landmarks together.

Hockey

In week 4 the Kambala Hockey team has a 3 - 0 win against Ascham.

Events

Red Earth Cape York Experience

Eleven of our Year 9 boarders recently took part in the Red Earth school trip to Cape York, an unforgettable journey that offered deep cultural immersion and life-changing experiences.

Throughout the trip, the girls connected with local communities, gaining insight into Indigenous culture, history, and connection to country. One of the standout highlights was snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, where they explored the vibrant underwater world of one of Australia's most iconic natural wonders.

It was a truly transformative experience, and one the girls will carry with them for years to come.

Sorry Day

Over the past week, the boarders have been busy at work making beautiful paper flowers and colouring in posters for National Sorry Day. Our senior Yalari girls Lilli, Charlotte and Layla and Taylor, as well as members of the Cultural and Global Connections committee Jackie and Rachel are part of decorating a stairway of the day school, making a display to bring awareness to the injustices of the stolen generation and the need for further reconciliation.

Congratulations!

Boarding Staff Member Bec Ryan recently got engaged. A huge congratulation to Bec, we wish her all the very best.

Prep

Over the past two weeks, our IB students have been immersed in their exam block. The International Baccalaureate is a rigorous two-year program that challenges students academically, personally, and intellectually.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication, resilience, and hard work shown by the girls undertaking this demanding course. Their commitment to their studies is a testament to their strength and determination, and we look forward to seeing the rewards of their efforts in the months ahead.
