With the Head of the Schoolgirls Regatta, and the National Regatta (ARC) at Lake Barrington Tasmania in the rear-view mirror, we reflect on the success that MGC Rowing experienced during the 2024/225 season. This includes;
- Majority of MGC Crews finishing in C Finals or Higher (HOSG) Our Division 1 Intermediate Quad Scull Winning Melbourne Head 3.5km Open Division 2 Time trial race against 18 crews!
- Our Division 1 Intermediate quad rowing their first 2km race and winning the Senior State Division 2 Race
- Senior Division 1 Eight coming 5th in the C final at ARC
- Our Division 1 Intermediate Quad rowing in the C-Final at the ARC (Top 20 in the Country) beating lots of senior crews to come 2nd Place.
MGC Rowing Presentation Night 2025
On Friday, May 2, 2025, the Melbourne Girls’ College rowing community gathered to enjoy our annual presentation night. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the achievements of our talented rowers.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and camaraderie as we recognised the hard work and dedication of our athletes and coaches. It was a night to remember, highlighting the spirit of teamwork and the passion that drives our rowing program.
Season Awards
At the end of each season, it is customary to recognise several members of the rowing community through awards determined by votes from their peers and coaches. This year’s recipients of these honours were:
- Senior of Season: Alice King
- Intermediate of the Season: Zoe Tucker
- Junior of the Season: Fallon Walsh
- Cox of the Season: Amelia Judd
- Most Improved: Ruby Watson
- Head of the Yarra and Club Spirit Award: Gabby Simcox
- Crew of the Season: Intermediate Division 1 – Brae Naughton, Zara McIntosh, Eve Fumberger, Zoe Tucker & Isabelle Monro
- New Coach of the Season: Gracie Rawlinson
- Coach of the Season: Jess Cuddy
Learn to Row commences in Week 5 for Year 8s, this marks the start of the Rowing Calendar, with pre-season sessions beginning later in Term 2 for our Intermediates & Seniors. We are filled with excitement for the upcoming season, fuelled by a strong sense of camaraderie as we proudly represent our school. Our dedicated rowers inspire us with their unwavering commitment and passion, and we eagerly look forward to supporting them as they push their limits and aim for new achievements on the water next season!

MGC Rowing Parents Committee
The MGC Rowing Parents Committee wrapped up the 2024/2025 Rowing season with our annual Rowing Raffle during the Rowing Presentation Night on Friday, May 2. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the community for their tremendous support, as numerous Rowing families and local businesses generously donated prizes. A heartfelt thank you to our Director of Rowing, Graham Smith for his unwavering support throughout the season, especially as we faced many new challenges. His enthusiasm and passion for the squad helped build a strong sense of camaraderie within the committee.
The rowing parents committee wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the parents who volunteered at our events, whether it was baking croissants for the Ergathon, setting up marquees at regattas, or serving as Boat Race officials during our events. This season has been bustling with a variety of activities. The enthusiasm and encouragement from everyone involved have been inspiring, making this a memorable experience for all.
Also, a warm welcome to new parents embarking on the exciting journey of supporting their Year 8 students as they explore the Learn to Row program. We invite you to become a part of our rowing parents committee if your rower chooses to continue their journey. This is a great way to connect with other parents and enrich your experience at the school while building a strong sense of community.
