Parent Information Sessions – Launching SchoolTV

As mentioned in previous newsletters, on Thursday 19 June, we will be holding two parent information sessions in the school hall. The first session will be at 9:00am, with a repeat session at 2:00pm. These sessions will launch a new program designed to support parents with research-based information on a range of topics to help children thrive at school and at home. Behind the scenes, a great deal of planning has gone into this initiative, which is being delivered in partnership with Sydney North Primary Health Network.

We’re proud to be launching SchoolTV – a trusted resource that supports student mental health and wellbeing by helping parents navigate the challenges of modern parenting. SchoolTV offers practical strategies and expert advice on a wide range of topics, from anxiety and online safety to sleep, friendships and more. It’s designed to support meaningful conversations between parents and children, especially on issues that may be difficult to talk about. We look forward to sharing more at the sessions and invite all parents and carers to attend.

National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week

Last Monday, was National Sorry Day, a significant time to reflect on the impact of past government policies, particularly the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families. This day acknowledges the strength and resilience of the Stolen Generations and highlights the importance of truth-telling and the power of a genuine apology.

We now move into National Reconciliation Week, held each year from 27 May to 3 June. It’s a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, celebrate the cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and consider how we can all play a part in creating a more just and respectful future. This year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, encourages us to build on the work already done and keep moving forward together. Reconciliation is a shared responsibility, and our school remains committed to deepening understanding and walking this journey with our students, staff and families.

Attendance notifications

Attending school every day helps children make the most of learning, build friendships, and access support when needed.

Starting next week, you will receive a daily notification through School Bytes if your child arrives late to school unattended by a parent/carer, or if your child is absent without an explanation in the parent portal. This notification will arrive via email.

Please assist us by indicating a reason for your child’s absence in the School Bytes parent portal. This helps us keep accurate records and ensures we can best support your child’s learning and wellbeing.

Please create a School Bytes parent portal profile if you have not already. The parent portal includes access to online permission notes, attendance, and school statement of account payments, which can be accessed via a secure link. To ensure that the registration process works smoothly and you can link your account to your child(ren), make sure that you use the same email address that you have provided to the school.

School Bytes is available on desktop as well as a mobile app.

Chatswood PS on ABC Radio

We’re proud to share that our partnership with Coonamble Public School was featured on ABC Radio on Wednesday morning. As part of this special program, thirty of our Year 6 students recently travelled to Coonamble, with their students set to visit us later in the year.

Ava from Year 6 and Ms Holstein represented our school brilliantly in an interview with Hamish Macdonald, speaking about the impact of the partnership and how it is helping to build intercultural understanding and deepen learning about Aboriginal histories and cultures.

Kindy 2026

Kindergarten enrolments for 2026 are now open, and we’re excited to welcome our next group of students. If you know neighbours, friends or family with children starting school next year, please let them know. Early enrolment helps families take part in our orientation program later in the year.
