Education in Faith Leader

Dear St Mary’s Community,

Family Faith Night - First Eucharist

We had a lovely turn out for the First Eucharist Family Faith Night last night. Thank you to Fr Jerome, Mrs McDonald and Mrs Ferrari for supporting our families as we all prepare for the important Sacrament of First Eucharist.

We enjoyed a chance to pray, to learn and to ask Fr Jerome lots of interesting questions.

We look forward to the Middle School Mass on Sunday 15 June followed by the First Eucharist Mass at 10.30am on Sunday 22 June.

We ask our whole community to keep the Year 4s and the First Eucharist candidates in their prayers over the coming weeks.

Winter Clothes Drive

Our Faith and Social Justice leaders have been inspired by the words from the scripture at our Reconciliation Week Paraliturgy and have created action to go alongside Faith.

Thank you in advance for supporting this important initiative.

First Reading: James 2:14-26

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no action? Can such faith save them?

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.  If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?   In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Pentecost

This Sunday, we celebrate Pentecost, one of the most important feasts in the Catholic calendar. Pentecost marks the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, empowering them to go out and share the Good News with people of all nations. It also marks the end of the Easter season. We now return to Ordinary time in the Liturgical calendar.

Often referred to as the “birthday of the Church,” Pentecost reminds us of the courage, unity and mission that lie at the heart of our faith. The symbols of wind and fire represent the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, breathing new life into the disciples and transforming them into bold messengers of God's love.

For our school community, Pentecost is a reminder that we, too, are called to be people of the Spirit guided by love, inspired by hope and united in faith. Just as the first followers of Jesus were given the strength to go out and make a difference, we are encouraged to use our gifts to serve others, build community, and live out our school values of Compassion, Integrity, Justice, and Respect. Pentecost invites us to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, to listen deeply, and to let God’s light shine through us in all that we do.
