During reading sessions, we have started talking about narrative writing. We looked at a broken text and reordered it by identified different parts including the orientation (characters and setting), complication, events, climax and resolution. The students have also worked on answering questions in full sentences about a text they have read.
e.g. What is your favourite colour?
One word answer - red.
Full sentence - My favourite colour is red.
During writing sessions, the students have experimented with using a linear timeline to plan their narrative. They were able to include the orientation, main problem, 3 events to try to solve the problem before the climax and ending.
During spelling sessions, we have been exploring graphs, digraphs and split digraphs making the sound 'A' such as /ay/ as in tray, /a- -e/ as in tape, and /ai/ as in snail.
During Numeracy sessions, we have explored mapping grid references. See if you can identify the grid reference for the tiger, elephant, monkey, parrot, alligator, rhino, hippo, lion and Zoo entry. Don't forget to record the letter and the number.

We have also introduced chance which is the likelyhood of an event occurring. We have learned to use the the words likely, unlikely, certain and impossible. Think about the below scenarios and match the correct word to each.

This week, we have looked at personal strengths in our SEL sessions. We discussed possible scenarios where we would need to rely on our different personal strengths. Look through the list and see if you can attribute some personal strengths to your family members and tell them about a time you have seen them display this.

We have also started our eSMART learning. We have talked about cyber safety and how to be an upstander, not a bystander. Throughout this term, we will be looking at the impacts of cyberbullying and how to prevent it.
