School Saving Bonus
The Victorian Government is delivering the School Saving Bonus (SSB) – a one-off support of $400 for eligible Government School students from Prep to Year 12 in 2025.
The SSB helps families cover the cost of uniforms, excursions, activities and more.
Unfortunately, Mount Beauty Secondary College was not allocated a textbook supplier but Mount Beauty Hardware and Drapery is our uniform supplier and families can allocate some of their bonus towards uniform items.
Families should have now received their SSB code(s) via email. The $400 is automatically sitting on family accounts, and is currently allocated to uniform items. If you would like to use your Bonus for school activities, you will need to re-allocate some or all of the bonus using the School Saving Bonus online system.
When you are consenting to activities on Compass and would like to use the SSB balance you have allocated to activities in the portal, please email Sharon or the school and we will alter the cost of the activity so you can complete consent. We require written consent from families to use their SSB towards activities.
To learn more about the SSB online system, download the step-by-step System guide for parents and carers or watch this School Saving Bonus video.
If you have only recently completed your enrolment into the Victorian Government School system you can expect to receive your SSB code(s) in the coming weeks.
If you have transferred to our school from another Victorian Government School, any remaining funds on your SSB code(s) will soon be available to use at our approved school suppliers. We request your patience as this change is processed.
The Department of Education has established a dedicated contact centre to support the SSB. The contact centre can be reached by:
- completing the School Saving Bonus enquiry form
- calling 1800 338 663, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on weekdays.
CSEF
Camps, Sports and Excursion Funds (CSEF) is another financial support for families who have an eligible active Commonwealth Health Care Card. Any family who received CSEF last year will automatically have their Health Care Card validated to receive the funds this year. If you have recently received an eligible Health Care Card and would like to apply for CSEF, please contact the school for an application form. Students over 16 who have their own Health Care Card can also apply for CSEF by filling in a form. Forms are attached below, or ask at the office for a form.
Family Statements
Within the coming weeks families will be sent enrolment details of their child/children to check that all information is up to date, especially contact details. Family statements will also be included in the information being sent out, this will help families to plan for payments of upcoming events. We require written consent to use any credit on your account towards events and activities. This can be done via Compass by clicking the CSEF/Credit payment option in an event or by emailing the school. We will check your credit level on your account and let you know of any shortfall to pay. To use the School Saving Bonus please email or phone the school to consent to the use of any SSB you allocated to activities in the portal or answer the question in Compass events. If you have any outstanding amounts owing for events/activities and would like to use the SSB to pay for these, please email the school.
