Principal's Report

Simone Roy

School Council

We are seeking 4 parents to self-nominate for a position on School Council. Forms are attached with this newsletter and available from the office. If we receive more than 4 self-nominations, details about voting and elections will be in the next newsletter.

The last meeting of the current School Council was held this week, where we thanked the outgoing councillors. Thanks again to Bronwyn Gray (President), Jason Frede, Meredith Anderson and Rachel Fallon for their service over the last 2 years on council.

Self-nomination forms are due to the office by Thursday 27th February, 4.30pm.

Progress Reports

Mid Term 1 Progress Reports will be available on Compass today. These reports are completed in Weeks 4 and 8 each term and help to monitor the students’ learning habits in class. All students should be able to achieve a level of 3, the expected level. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the information provided in these reports, please don’t hesitate to contact the individual teacher, or the Student Engagement Leaders;

Vicky Levesque for Years 7 and 8

Jenny Farrington for Years 9 and 10

Shantelle Stimson for Years 11 and 12.

NAPLAN

Students in Years 7 and 9 will be completing NAPLAN testing between the 12th and 24th of March.

These tests are a snap shot of information collected for your child. These results, combined with other information that teachers collect during their classes are helpful to school. The data indicates to our teachers which students need some extra support, or which ones need further extension. The results may also help to provide additional funding to our school.

We acknowledge that the idea of testing can be daunting to some. However, the information we can gain from the results is very valuable for school; it does not define an individual. Families can withdraw their child from this testing. However, we ask that you discuss any concerns you have before doing so. Please speak with Jarrah Brennan or me prior to completing the permission form, if you have questions or concerns.

Detailed information to Year 7 and 9 families will be emailed out through Compass this week.
