As Term 1 gains momentum, it is an opportune time for students to establish positive study routines that will support their learning. Our work as a Research Partner in Melbourne Metrics’ New Metrics for Success program continues to focus on building agency in learning—helping students take ownership of their progress through self-reflection and meaningful goal setting.
A key part of this is developing effective feedback loops. Encouraging students to actively seek and respond to feedback—whether from teachers, peers or their own reflections—helps them refine their understanding and strengthen their skills. As students work through their first assessments, it is a great time to reflect on what went well and what could be done differently next time. Consider the feedback provided by teachers in class on SEQTA.
We encourage parents to support their children in establishing these habits by engaging in regular conversations about their learning—asking what they found challenging, what strategies helped and what they might do differently next time. These small but powerful discussions reinforce a mindset of growth and resilience.
We look forward to seeing our students continue to develop as confident, self-directed learners this year.
Year 11 2025 Course changes
Any request for course selection changes needs to be made as soon as possible, to avoid missing content in the new course. Students may make changes up to the end of Week 4, Term 1 2025. Please see Mr Shackleton if you would like to explore changes. It is a College requirement that students undertake six courses in Year 11. You will have an opportunity to review and, possibly, change courses after the Semester 1 Examinations.
Year 12 2025 Course changes and withdrawals
Any request for course selection changes needs to be made as soon as possible, to avoid missing content in the new course. Please be aware that Year 12 students may not change courses after Week 4, Term 1 2025, and mid-year changes are not permitted. Students have until the end of Term 2 2025 to withdraw from a complete course, on condition that WACE achievement requirements are still met.

NAPLAN is a national assessment, and all Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 students are expected to participate. The tests are designed to provide a summative, nationally comparable understanding of student performance in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy. No undue emphasis is placed on these tests. They provide some valuable information to teachers, parents and students. However, those results do not have an impact on school reports. The assessment work completed throughout the year is the best indicator of your child’s progress during this time.
The schedule for the Term 1 NAPLAN assessments and further information can be found at MyASC under Curriculum Information.
For more information about NAPLAN, visit nap.edu.au
Please submit any change in contact details via the Parent Gateway on SEQTA by the end of Week 4 (tomorrow) to ensure the registration and demographic upload to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) is correct.
