Uniform Policy
This is just a reminder that necklaces are not permitted as part of our WPS uniform policy. We have noticed that many students wear jewellery, including necklaces, to school. Wearing necklaces is a safety issue, especially when playing outside or in PE/Sports class. We understand that sometimes jewellery items have sentimental or cultural significance. If this is the case, we ask that these be worn underneath students' uniforms, which are not visible.
Parking in the Staff Carpark
This is a friendly reminder that our staff car park is for use throughout the school day for our staff. Sometimes, staff need to leave during the day. We recently had a situation where a car (not a staff car) blocked other cars. As the Church car park is now more accessible, please use this as a more suitable option. We appreciate your understanding.
2025 School Council Elections
On Tuesday evening, the 18th of February, we hosted our final School Council meeting with our 2024 members. On behalf of Whittlesea Primary School, I would like to thank all School Council members for volunteering their time and sharing both professional and personal experiences in contributing to the operations of our School over the past 12 months.
We have several members whose current tenures will conclude in March 2025. I thank the following parents and DET staff for their invaluable contributions: Lyle Winter, Rae Gittos, Susan Leeson, Shelby Toulson, Anna Larken, Julie Hodges and Meghan Harvey.
With our 2024 School Council configuration, there are now a total of 9 vacancies:
- 6 vacancies on School Council for Parent Representatives
- 2 vacancies for Community Representatives
- 1 vacancy for Department of Education staff representatives.
Based on the current School Council membership, the following positions and tenure durations are available for election this year:
- Parent Representative - 5 positions available – 2-year tenure
- Parent Representative - 1 position available – 1 year tenure
- Staff Representative - 1 position available – 2-year tenure
- Community Representative - 2 positions available – 2-year tenure
Being part of the School Council is a great opportunity to participate, support, and engage with the positive learning experiences for the students and families of Whittlesea Primary School. It also gives you a wonderful insight into school governance, along with the strategic planning and direction of the school.
We invite and welcome any member of our parent community who would like to re-nominate, self-nominate, or nominate another parent to contact the school office to collect the relevant nomination form.
Nominations open today, Thursday, February 20th. Completed nomination Forms must be submitted to the School Office by 4:00 p.m. on Monday 3rd March, 2025.
