Assistant Principals' Report

We are excited to share that we have launched our Learning e-News for all classes this week. The Learning e-News is a digital classroom newsletter that allows your child's classroom teacher to share some of the learning that has occurred over the past month.
Classrooms will publish Learning e-News twice a term, allowing our teachers to share what your child has been learning about in various subject areas, including literacy and numeracy.
The e-Learning News also allows teachers to share photos of their children in one easy-to-access location. Note that if your child does not have photo permission, they will not be featured in the e-Learning News.
The Learning e-News was shared earlier today via a Compass Post.
As part of our commitment to making and maintaining strong family and community connections, we will soon send you information about our Parent Volunteer program. This is an excellent and rewarding way to gain insight into your child's classroom while supporting the teacher and students. Parents who wish to participate must hold a current Working With Children Check and complete the WPS Parent Volunteer Training Guide which includes important information on Child Safe Standards.
Improved Academic Achievement
When parents are involved, students tend to have higher grades, better attendance, and stronger motivation. Parents reinforce home learning, which helps students stay engaged and reinforces skills learned in the classroom.
WPS will launch Home Learning in Years 1-6 towards the end of Term 1 and in Foundation from Term 2.
Better Behaviour & Social Skills
A positive parent-school connection creates a supportive environment and reduces behavioural issues. When parents and teachers work together, students feel more confident and responsible.
Higher Attendance & Engagement
Parents who stay involved encourage their children to value education, leading to fewer absences and greater participation. Engaged parents support extracurricular activities, helping students develop teamwork and leadership skills.
Emotional & Mental Wellbeing
Strong communication between parents and teachers helps identify and address student challenges early. Emotional support at home, combined with school support, creates a stable, encouraging environment.
Increased College & Career Readiness
Parents involved in their child's education help with long-term academic planning, ensuring students set and reach career goals. Schools can guide parents in understanding college scholarships and career pathways.
