Principal's Report
Kaylene Kubeil
This week, we (myself and Mr Kirkright) attended the Whittlesea Schools Network Principals meeting at the Mantra in Epping. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the Principals throughout the City of Whittlesea. We also heard about what schools are working on through their Annual Implementation Plans (AIPs). Still, more importantly, we were able to see how we could connect with the expertise in the room and how schools excelling in specific areas achieved these successes.
Thank you to Mr Dupuy, who stepped into the position of Acting Principal whilst we were out of the school for the day.
Families have been very active in utilising the SSB. However, we understand there is still some confusion about this, so I hope the following information will help simplify the SSB for everyone.
Before reading through this, please view the parent-friendly video provided below.
Don't hesitate to contact the office if you need any support or have questions about the SSB and SSB allocation process.
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 has undergone significant revisions, culminating in the release of Version 2.0. This update aims to provide students with a knowledge-rich curriculum that prepares them to be active and informed citizens.
Mathematics Version 2.0
The revised Mathematics curriculum was published in July 2023. Familiarisation began in 2024, with optional implementation during that year. Full implementation is scheduled for 2025. Educators are encouraged to use the available resources and professional learning opportunities to integrate the updated curriculum effectively into their teaching practices.
English Version 2.0
The updated English curriculum was released in December 2023. Familiarisation commenced in 2024, with full implementation set for 2025. The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) has provided a suite of supporting resources, including on-demand introductory videos and downloadable materials, to assist educators in understanding and applying the revised curriculum.
These changes will have implications for our Reporting and Assessment processes.
A staff working group has been established to address these changes.
We are pleased that the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) has approved our request to demolish the old toilet block. However, the timeline is still to be confirmed. The latest communication indicated that the VSBA is currently procuring and appointing a project/design consultant, which is aimed to be finalised by the end of March 2025. Following this, they will begin scoping and designing the program of works within firmer timelines in April. The demolition work schedule will be developed as they progress toward tendering a contractor and in consultation with school operations. The VSBA will contact the school again once the project/design consultant is appointed for a site visit.
Enjoy your weekends.
