Ryan’s Rambling

Dear Families,
Another week down and we are almost at the mid point of the term!
On Tuesday of this week, our school hosted a number of teachers from Black Hill Primary School. The school contacted us towards the end of last year, particularly interested in our Literacy Instruction. We were happy to have staff visit and better understand our approach to Structured Literacy. We were overwhelmed with the sheer amount of positive feedback from the team, who were in awe of our amazing staff. It was a proud moment for me, and a strong endorsement to the hard work and dedication of our teachers.
I have noticed that there are a number of students arriving to school extremely early in the morning. Please remember that our supervision times begin at 8:30 in the morning and children should not be arriving at school until then. We have had children arriving at school at 8:05, when there is no supervision in the yard. This is incredibly unsafe for children and we cannot expect our hardworking staff to begin supervision earlier than they already do. If you require before school care, there is a facility at Newington Primary School, run by the YMCA. Thank you for understanding this.
Today at assembly, our School Leaders reflected on our School Value of Respect and Care. Over the course of the week, they discussed and unpacked why it is important for our community to show Respect and Care to ourselves, each other and our community. I couldn’t have articulated the importance of this value any better. They’re showing great leadership!
Finally, our School Sports in set for Tuesday. We have tried desperately to ensure all students have had their permission given, please make sure you have read all your messages on Sentral. Sunscreen, hats and plenty of water is an absolute must. We are looking forward to an amazing day. Thank you to Emma for all her coordination.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Ryan
