Japanese

Konnichiwa, Monty Community!

Last week, Foundation students at MPS embarked on their journey to learn Japanese for the first time. They were incredibly excited to share words and phrases they already knew from their siblings and other family members. I was amazed by how much they had already learnt and I really enjoyed seeing them share their knowledge eagerly. Additionally, the students learned how to say 'snake' in Japanese – 'Hebi,' which sounds like 'heavy' in English. They also crafted snake bracelets in celebration of this year's animal.

All the other year levels celebrated the Year of the Hebi by engaging in various activities. They created abstract colouring pieces, practiced Kirigami (the Japanese art of folding and cutting paper into decorative shapes) and practiced writing 'Hebi' in Hiragana. Their work has been impressive in the first few weeks of Term 1.

Well done! – Yokudekita!
