Performing Arts & Music

Juniors

The Foundation students have continued to enjoy singing and playing along in the Performing Arts classroom. They learnt the ‘Chicken Song’ and enjoyed playing along to the rhythm with shaker eggs.

The Foundation and Grade 1 students have also been reading a wonderful book called ‘Charlie the Conductor’. It is a book that explores the world of music and introduces the children to a number of different musical terms and elements.

The Grade 1, 2 and 3 students have all been learning and revising the musical notes of crotchets, quavers and crotchet rests. They have worked as a class to play a number of different compositions using these notes. The Grade 2 and 3 students have even created their own compositions in groups and performed them to the class.

Great job performers!

Seniors

It has been a fantastic start to the year in Senior Performing Arts. The grade 4, 5 and 6 studentshave been enthusiastically dusting off the cobwebs and tackling all of our activities with great vigour!

Our Grade 4 students have been learning about all things Ukulele. Did you know that the Ukulele is Portuguese for 'Jumping Fleas'? Who knew!

We have been learning all of the parts of the Uke from the nut to the bridge and we have worked out who is left or right handed. Next week's challenge… How to tune a Uke!
