PERFORMING ARTS

SPOOKY STRING NIGHT

On Monday 5th May the annual String Night was held in East Gym. It was a showcase of some of the talented string students McKinnon has to offer.

The evening featured large string ensembles, extension ensembles, chamber music and VCE soloists. The night had a spooky theme with pieces ranging from the gothic to the gruesome with a smidgeon of a relaxing bossa nova to break the tension. It was great seeing a few instruments that are rarely, if ever, featured at McKinnon, the theremin and the harp.

Congratulations to all the students who performed, and many thanks to Georgina Mead for her organisation of the event, as well as the string staff (Stuart Cook, Clare Bugeja, Amelia In, Christine Vincent, Andrew Albanis and Jill Griffiths) for their preparation of the students.

Thank you also to Josh Golembo for providing piano accompaniment.
