Swimming Carnival
Last Friday, we held a very successful swimming carnival at Scone Pool. Thank you to the large number of students who attended on the day. There was lots of participation and cheering throughout the day. Results for the carnival including overall house results and age champions will be announced at next week's school assembly.
The school swimming team has been selected for the Diocesan Swimming Carnival to be held at the Forum pool Newcastle on Tuesday 11 March. A meeting of all students was held at school this week with event details to be placed on Compass next week.
Rugby League
We are very excited to announce that we have had a number of students selected in our Diocesan Rugby League Teams to attend the Northern NSW trials on 2 April.
On Thursday 13 February, 14 students embarked on a journey to Raymond Terrace to trial for the 2025 Maitland/Newcastle Diocesan Rugby League teams in the Under 15s Boys and Under 16s Girls Age Groups. Known for its strong rugby league tradition, the Diocese saw fiercely contested trials, featuring numerous representative players in both male and female categories.
After two intense and skilful trial games, four of our most talented female players earned their spots to represent the Maitland/Newcastle Diocese at Northern NSW trials. These players, Ava J, Olivia C, Gabriella H (Year 10), and Abbie W (Year 9), showcased exceptional performances. Their dedication and skill on the field are commendable, and they deserve hearty congratulations for their achievements.
In the Under 15’s Boys, Harlem L and Jackson F (Year 9) stood out among approximately 60 players. These young athletes played two games each on the day, followed by a third game from which the final team was selected. Competing in very hot and humid conditions, their perseverance and talent shone through, earning them well-deserved spots in the Diocesan team.
All six students will now travel as members of the Maitland/Newcastle Diocesan side to South West Rocks on 2 April to compete in the Northern NSW Trials. This event offers them a chance to progress further and represent Northern NSW at the NSWCCC Trials at St Mary’s in July. We extend our best wishes to these dedicated athletes and look forward to their continued success on the field.

If there are any concerns or questions with Thursday afternoon sport please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Tilse.
AFL
During Term 1 we are conducting an AFL skills program with Year 7 students not involved in Rep Rugby League or Soccer training. We were very fortunate to receive Sport in Schools funding to conduct this program in partnership with the AFL. The program commenced on Thursday with the students thoroughly enjoying the afternoon. Year 7 students will be involved in a four week program.
Rep Sport
It is essential that students read Compass notifications and student notices regularly as there is a number of Rep sports and registrations in the forthcoming weeks. If unsure please see Mrs Tilse.
On Friday 28 February we have students attending Diocesan Touch Trials to seek selection for the NSWCCC Touch. Registrations were due on Friday.
Please note for ALL registrations for students seeking selection for representative Diocesan or NSWCCC teams they must be approved by Mrs Tilse before registering for the trial. There has been criteria established that must be met for each of the respective sports.
An expression of interest is currently open for Diocesan U15 Boys AFL that closes on 5 March. Any boys interested are to see Mrs Tilse and should have a strong representative background.
