2025 Team Vic State Team Trials 

Registrations are now open for any child (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the Victorian State Teams. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victorian students to challenge themselves against Australia’s best school aged athletes across numerous sports at the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinate the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

Registrations close at 11:59pm, Friday, 28 February, 2025.

Please see the new Team Vic Principal Endorsement Sheet process for the following teams in 2025:

  • Australian Football 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls/Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Netball 12 Years & Under Girls (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)
  • Cricket 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Friday 1st March, 2024)

Students are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is not a ‘Come and Try’ system. Students are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

It is very important that children wear their sports uniform on their dedicated sports day and bring a drink bottle (or two on the hot days).

 

 

Geelong Cats Visit

A big thank you to the Geelong Cats (AFL) who visited the school last Tuesday for the Year 3 students and 4 students. The players were Gryan Miers, Shaun Mannagh, 

Jed Bews, and Jacob Molier. The children asked the football players some great questions and then enjoyed a small football clinic. 

 

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6 

The Sacred Heart Swimming sports will take place on

 Thursday 13th February at Blue Water Fitness Centre. All students from Years 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. The swimming sports will start at 11:00am and finish at 2:00pm. Students will walk to Bluewater. We do need parent helpers on the day, so can you please indicate on PAM if you can assist.

Hockey Victorian Roadshow

On Monday 17th & Wednesday 19th February, the Hockey Victorian Roadshow will be visiting Sacred Heart to teach the PE classes on these days some hockey skills. Please have your child bring along their school hat and drink bottle. We look forward to learning some new skills.

The ‘Hook in 2 Hockey’ Program will also be available for Sacred Heart students. This program involves six Saturday morning sessions and will be held at the Eastern Reserve. Please see attached flyer on the Community page for more information. 

 

Colac Division Tennis Tournament

The Colac Division Primary Schools Tennis Tournament will take place on Friday 21st February at the Colac Lawn Tennis Courts in Church Street. Students from Years 5 and 6 trialled for this event last week at school. 

The selected students will receive more information via PAM.

 

The day will start at 9:30am and finish at approximately 1:30pm. Tennis players will need to make their own way to the Colac Lawn Tennis Courts. We do need parents to help at this event, so can you please indicate on PAM if you are able to assist. 

NO LUNCH ORDERS for participants on the day.

Sacred Heart Athletics Years 3-6 

The Sacred Heart Athletics will take place on Thursday 27th February at Colac Central Reserve. All students from Years 3-6 will have the opportunity to participate in this event. The athletics will start at 9:30am and finish at 1:30pm. Students will walk to the Central Reserve. We do need parent helpers on the day, so can you please indicate on PAM if you can assist.

Bus Costs for 2025

Due to the rising costs of bus hire, this year in 2025, any student who makes it through to Greater Western event or State event will be charged $10 to go towards the cost of the bus. Parents, Grandparents etc who would like to go on the bus to any of these events will be charged a fee of $20. We thank you for your understanding with this matter.

Name: Jeremiah Scott (Yr 6SF)

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is soccer.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is tennis.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Tennis is my favourite sport because it is fun to verse other people, and I love to serve the ball.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when in a soccer match I blocked four goals in a row.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my ‘eye/ball contact’. I am very good at focussing on the ball.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I love to exercise and keep fit.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.

8. Why are they your favourite? Ronaldo is my favourite player because he is a superstar, he is a very good soccer player.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Portugal soccer team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I have a very good tennis serve and I react very quickly in sports games.

 

Name: Solomon Coventry (Yr 5JT)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are  soccer, football and horse-riding.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is soccer.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Soccer is my favourite sport because I love the sport and I am very intense when I play competition soccer.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when  I did a bicycle kick in soccer, which is an acrobatic strike where I kicked an airborne ball rearward in midair.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my physical strength. I am fit and fairly fast.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I love to exercise and keep fit.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Stephanie Catley who is an Australian soccer player.

8. Why are they your favourite? Stephanie Catley is my favourite soccer player because  she is a great defender in soccer.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Colac Rovers (soccer)

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I try very hard and that I am intense when I play sport. 

 

Name: Jessica Farquharson (Yr 5DC)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball and cricket.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is cricket.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Cricket is my favourite sport because  my whole family plays the game and we all love it.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got a wicket with my first ball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is that I am very active, and I try very hard.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I get to play with all of my family.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is my Dad.

8. Why are they your favourite? Dad is my favourite sports person because he teaches me great techniques in cricket.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Tomahawk Creek Cricket Team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I nice, very active and very supportive to my team mates.
