Valentines Day Fundraiser

Hey Suzanne Cory Community !!

On the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day, hundreds of students received roses and many more were able to spread some love to those they appreciate and treasure on this special day!

With a whopping total of 550+ roses sold, red, pink and crochet roses alike, we raised over $1000 to be donated to HeartKids, an Australian charity dedicated to providing lifelong support, resources and advocacy for people impacted by childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD). Thank you for helping us give gifts that help to give life this Valentine's Day.

Huge thank you especially to Rhianna and Savita, and the Premature Grandparents Club for the tremendous time they devoted to making the beautiful crochet roses for sale!

A little message from the PGC

Hey geriatrics, Savita and I just wanted to drop a massive thank you to all our members who pitched in and helped for the crochet rose fundraiser.

It was a big, honestly chaotic, task, but we are beyond proud and grateful to every single one of you for helping out—whether you were crocheting rose heads, assembling the roses, or handling deliveries, this massive Cupid mission wouldn’t have been possible without you all! 🤧💖 We'd like to also thank all our actors/actresses who participated in the promotional ad, with an extra special thank you to this year's ad editor, Anushka Davidge, for her absolutely phenomenal work.

As both of us are approaching the end of our time at this school, we truly just want to thank everyone again for making our last Valentine’s day campaign (with us as leaders) so special. We are so so so grateful for every effort.

Now give those wrists a well-earned break—updates on upcoming club activities will (eventually) be released! 🧶✨

-xoxo with so much love, Sav & Rhi

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Music Captains, Ashmi and Jayme, and the entire Serenading Team, where even though in a different setup to last year, managed to still make it special for everyone involved, organising, rehearsing and putting on a spectacular performance of song and dance!

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the House Initiative Captains, Salma, Parnika, Ashlee and Gurleen, who dedicated huge amounts of time and effort to the event, we couldn’t have done it without you :).

Overall, the fundraiser was a smashing success, thank you all for helping us help you spread some love this Valentine’s Day <3 !!

Lots of Love,

Your 2025 Citizenship Captains,

Meredith and Shanika

Intermediate Girls Cricket

Last Friday, our Intermediate Girls Cricket team took to the field for an exciting day of competition. We started with a tough first match, facing a strong opposition and unfortunately falling short. However, we didn’t let that bring us down. In our second game, we bounced back with fantastic team effort, securing a well-deserved victory.

Despite our best efforts, we didn’t advance to the next round but everyone displayed amazing showcases of sportsmanship and co-operation!!

Senior Boys Cricket

The Senior boys cricket team had a great day securing a place in the WMR finals with a win of 15 runs.

The newsletter report was not available at the time of publishing however the photo tells the story of how the students felt about their result.

School kits for Congo Bakesale

Last Friday our agora was filled with a wide selection of baked and cooked goods in our first bake sale of 2025!

We raised funds to support the School kits for Congo initiative, which is an organisation that works to deliver school supplies to underprivileged children in Congo in order to provide them with what they need to access basic education. The supplies and uniforms are also made by a local cooperative of women who would otherwise be unable to find a stable enough income to sustain their families. The organisation is actively working to provide a more stable future to those in need, and it is a privilege that we are able to offer some assistance to their cause.

Thanks to the generosity of our student community, we were able to successfully raise $378 to help fellow students in other parts of the world gain access to the educational opportunities we are fortunate to have.

Once again, a massive thank you to all the bakers and students who came down to contribute to the cause!
