Principal's Report

As we reach the midpoint of Term 1, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the excitement that comes with new beginnings. The start of a school year always brings fresh energy, new opportunities, and the chance to set goals for the months ahead. This year, in particular, has been one of significant change, and I want to commend our entire school community—students, staff, and parents—for embracing these changes with resilience and enthusiasm.

One of the most exciting developments this year has been the introduction of our new five-period-a-day timetable, designed to provide deeper engagement with each subject while allowing for a balanced and structured day. We have also introduced a regular study program across all year levels, ensuring that students develop strong independent learning habits and effective study skills.

To further enhance student wellbeing, we launched the THRIVE program, which provides dedicated time for students to develop skills in resilience, mindfulness, and personal growth. Our commitment to holistic education is also reflected in our increased focus on community projects and mentoring, which give students the opportunity to connect with others, contribute meaningfully, and develop leadership skills. Additionally, our refined co-curricular approach emphasizes clear non-academic goals, helping students to stay focused and motivated.

Of course, change—no matter how positive—can be unsettling. I want to acknowledge that adapting to these new structures has come with some teething difficulties. However, it has been wonderful to see how staff and students have worked through these together, always keeping in mind what is best for student learning and wellbeing. In the words of Alan Wilson Watts “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”. I am proud to say that our school community has not only embraced change but has used it as an opportunity to grow.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff for their commitment, to our students for their adaptability and perseverance, and to our parents for their ongoing support. Your partnership in education is invaluable, and together, we continue to build a school environment where every student can thrive.

With the rest of the term ahead, I encourage everyone to stay engaged, support one another, and embrace the opportunities that lie before us. Let’s continue to move forward with a focus on Respect, Aspiration and Contribution.
