From Principal Steve - Introducing PR1ME Mathematics

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are excited to inform you that Brighton Primary School will be adopting the PR1ME Mathematics resource for all students in Grades 1 to 6 this year.

In Term 4, 2024, we trialled several mathematics resources with students in Grades 1, 3, and 5. Following this thorough evaluation, we have chosen PR1ME Mathematics due to its proven effectiveness in enhancing students' mathematical understanding and achievement.

PR1ME Mathematics is designed to strengthen core mathematical skills through a structured and research-based approach. The resource has been developed using global best practices and is aligned with our goal of ensuring every student builds a strong foundation in mathematics. Last Monday 3rd February, most teachers participated in a full day of professional learning which focused on implementing this new PR1ME student resource.

The PR1ME resource will be used in conjunction with other mathematics resources including maths manipulatives, Mathletics, Essential Assessment as well as PAT Maths Adaptive Assessment. These resources have consistently strengthened student achievement in mathematics at Brighton Primary School, and we are confident that this combination will continue to support outstanding learning outcomes for our students.

PR1ME is creating a student workbook for Prep students later this year, and we anticipate implementing this student workbook too.

To support this initiative, we kindly ask parents to contribute $45.00 for the PR1ME resources - including 2 semester workbooks and a PR1ME teacher resource hub - for the upcoming school year. Unfortunately, the School Saving Bonus cannot be used for textbooks.  Payment can be made via Compass in the Payments Centre.

In 2026, the PR1ME resources will be included on the standard student booklist.

We greatly appreciate your support in helping us provide the best resources to enhance your child’s learning experience. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Assistant Principal, Riley Hall and/or me.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Warm regards,

Steve Meade
