What's been happening in Visual Arts this week?
Lunar New Year 2025 - Year of the Snake
The students from Foundation to Year 6 have been developing their art language and exploring the art elements of line and pattern. Using these explorations, the students thought about the shape of a snake and drew the outline. The next step was to fill the snake with different lines and patterns. Students worked to draw with thick black pens and fine line pens to create their snakes. When students finished their design the tricky part was to cut out the snake and glue it onto red paper ready for display.
Enjoy looking at the different Year of the Snake pieces.
Art Smocks
Please make sure that your child has a labelled art smock at school as soon as possible.
It is very important that an art smock is brought to school so that school uniforms can be protected during painting, clay and construction activities.
Smocks can be placed in your child's art smock tub located in their classroom.
Just take a moment to ....
Look at the different lines and patterns.
Lines and patterns appear in nature and can be discovered in trees, leaves, rocks, insects and animals just to name a few.
Perhaps explore some lines and patterns that are man made - floor tiling, bricks and clothing for example.
What kinds of lines and patterns can you create at home?
