The Parent/Carer

At St Anne’s College, the parent/carer is seen as integral in the learning cycle. Learning cannot be fully achieved if there is not a commitment to creating relationships with parents that are engaging and authentic. We will endeavour to support parents/carers on their child’s learning journey; a journey that began long before starting at St Anne’s College, with a competent and capable child who has learnt to walk, talk, feed and socialise. We recognise the parent as the first and foremost educator in a child’s learning and we now take their hand on this journey. We therefore ask parents/carers to committo our Catholic values, be prepared to continue to support their child’s learning and trust us in providing their child with learning opportunities that will allow each individual to learn.

Education is a partnership, and we encourage parents/carers to stay engaged in their child’s journey with us. Here’s how:

• Participate in Learning Conversations: look forward to regular updates on their child’s learning milestones. We aim to keep them informed and involved every step of the way.

• Access Their Child’s Learning Data: throughout the year, parents/carers will have opportunities to review their child’s progress, including assessment results, so they can stay connected to their academic growth.

The Learner

St Anne’s College is committed to the learner, be it a child, adolescent or adult, and

recognises everybody can learnand will learn throughout all stages of their life. From the learner, we at St Anne’s expect a strong desire to do their best. Learners should bring a readiness to not only learn for themselves, but allow those about them to learn free of interruption, in a safe and happy environment. The learner must be willing to move from their comfort zone, into new and exciting spheres. A learner must bring a positive and ‘can do’ approach to all learning experiences. We know all learners will experience success and we also know there will be times when mistakes are made and we do not achieve our desired outcome. Learners will see this as a springboard for the continued research for what could be eventual success.

As part of the Magnify Sandhurst program, the learner will:

• Have more intensively focused time on literacy and numeracy skills, especially in the early years. In older year levels (right up to Year 10), the curriculum will be sequenced to ensure all students continue to cover all components of the Victorian Curriculum. There will be targeted support for reading and mathematics at every level.

At St Anne’s we recognise we are all created equalin God’s image. All learners will be treated as equals, with the right to learn. All learners will be expected to respect the rights of others to learn, treating each other with care, compassion and dignity in faith and wisdom we learn in God’s abundant love.St Anne’s College is a Catholic community welcoming all, inspired by a loving God, committed to faith, wisdom and learning. Central to the mission of St Anne’s College is an unequivocal commitment to fostering the dignity, self-esteem and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe, supportive and enriching environment to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.
