Student Leadership

State Youth Leadership Conference Excursion

On Wednesday, 26th of March, our Year 6 School, House, and SVT Captains attended the 2025 State Youth Leadership Conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. This is a conference organised and run by Youth Leadership Academy Australia annually. The day focuses on bringing together the state’s most influential young leaders to equip student leaders with the skills and confidence to be school change-makers. Throughout the day, our Year 6 Leaders listened to and interacted with a range of inspirational leaders across many different walks of life, while networking with a variety of student leaders from a range of schools across Victoria.

Thank you to Mr Pain and Ms Aimee for their support and supervision during the conference.

Here are our 'take-aways' of the day:

It is important to help people when they need it. It is okay to not be perfect. Always just give it your best go. The conference was very interactive – Harvey.

Bullying is never okay. You can make a positive change no matter your age – Isla.

You don’t need a badge to lead, anyone can lead – Charlotte.

Good qualities of a leader are being respectful, kind and a good listener - Ben.

You don’t have to have a badge to be a leader, you can make a difference no matter who you are or how old you are - Imogen.

We all have an equal impact no matter our age – Sarah.

If you see someone getting bullied or hurt, ask if they are okay and stop it from happening – River.

Bullying is never okay and needs to be called out – Lewis.

Anyone can be a leader, as long as you give it a go - Dylan.

Everyone is different, and that is okay – Harry.

To be a good leader, you need to be kind and caring and not make fun of people for who they are—Dakota.

You don’t need a badge to be a leader. I enjoyed meeting other leaders from different schools – Monica.

You don’t have to be an adult to create change or stand up for what you believe in. I enjoyed the activities where I got to talk to students from other schools – Nevaeh.

You must recognise a problem first before you can think of a solution. I enjoyed being in the city for this conference – Piper.

You don’t need to be perfect to be a leader. I liked the AAA (accept, acknowledge, ask) strategy – Tanah.
