Principal's Report

We have had another exciting fortnight of learning and community at BNPS.
It has been hard to narrow down highlights for the fortnight, as so many amazing things have been happening. Just before the newsletter is loaded, I’ve asked for this first point to be added.
Today, we launched our TEAMs program for 2025 with a Sustainable Fashion Show. Students worked in small groups in their TEAMs to create a costume/design for their models. The models then walked the catwalk for the other students in the hall. It was so full of joy and community spirit.
Thanks to the Engagement and Wellbeing team for this marvellous idea and the students' enthusiasm, which made it such a success.
We have had Atkins win our Senior School Athletics. We thank our students, families, staff and especially Jason Haire for ensuring we had a successful day. Great sportsmanship, community spirit and lots of talent.
This week, our 1/2 students had a visit from the Market Fresh Schools Program. This enabled our students to taste some new fruits and vegetables and learn about the importance of fresh produce. Students were taught about the journey of the food from the farm to the markets and then to grocery stores. The students enjoyed the chance to taste new foods; hopefully, some found a new favourite.
Our senior students have followed the sporting seasons with footy making a comeback. It was a privilege to be out yesterday watching the students play with enthusiasm and awareness of each other and showing teamwork.
This week, Drew and Ebony (two of our school captains) attended a forum organised by the Department of Education Respectful Relationships team. Ebony and Drew were part of a large group of Year 6 and Year 12 students participating in the Positive Gender Relations Student Forum. They were invited to share and learn how we can tackle difficult topics in our school and reflect on ways to lead this work.
Yesterday on Compass, I shared a long list of ways families can get involved over the coming weeks. There are some exciting new events and some traditional ones, including the Easter Hat Parade, which is always a highlight. This year, we are saving it for the end of the day, hoping that families can join us before pick up.
Kim Carey and I look forward to welcoming the potential 2026 Foundation families for their first Information Session and tour next week. This is always a lovely chance to share the wonderful things we know about BNPS and showcase the fantastic staff and students.
I also take this chance in the newsletter to formally acknowledge the knowledge and effort Anthony Tait shared with us during his time as Acting Principal. I wish him all the best for his return to Little Bendigo Primary School.
Regards,
Carly Macdonald
