Year 9 Outdoor Education: Rubbish Monster Challenge
Last week, the Year 9 Outdoor Education elective students took on the Rubbish Monster Challenge, an exciting hands-on activity aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental awareness within our school community.
Armed with their school maps, students ventured across the school grounds to identify areas with the highest concentration of rubbish. They carefully noted locations where waste had been improperly discarded and considered the potential environmental impact on wildlife, waterways, and ecosystems.
Once the key problem areas were identified, students worked together to collect as much rubbish as possible and return it to the checkpoint. But their work didn’t stop there! Using their collected waste, each group constructed their very own Rubbish Monster, transforming discarded items into eye-opening creations that highlighted the importance of responsible waste disposal.
A huge congratulations to Daniel, Bachar, and Asia, whose monster stole the show—winning the challenge with the largest Rubbish Monster! Their impressive creation was a striking reminder of just how much waste can accumulate when we don’t dispose of it properly.
Well done to all our Year 9 Outdoor Education students for their dedication and effort in making our school a cleaner, greener place!
