News from Foundation

We have had a very busy few weeks in Foundation, including our first Wednesday at school! It has been amazing to see all the amazing learning that is happening inside and outside of the classroom!

Maths- Sequencing

For Maths, the Foundation students have been learning about Sequencing Time. They have been practising putting steps in order. Here are some examples of the Foundations putting different things in order, such as baking a cake, making a pizza and setting the table. The Foundations had to use vocabulary such as first, next and last to explain the steps.

Maths- Days of the Week

Another way we can measure time is using days. The Foundation students listened to the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and put the days of the week in order using the foods the caterpillar ate. Here are some photos of our amazing caterpillars.

Maths- Counting to 10

This week in Maths, the Foundation students are now starting to learn about numbers. They have begun to practice writing and reading numbers 0-10! Here are some counting crabs that we made.

Literacy and Maths Games

This week, the Foundation students started to learn how to play some Literacy and Maths games. These games are great for practcing what we already have learnt as well as practicing turn-taking, resilience and problem solcing skills.

Handwriting

Our handwriting has been getting amazing in Foundation! We have well and truly mastered our first few letters that we have learned- S A T P I N.

Sentence Writing

Last week in Foundation, the students began to write sentences!! They were so excited to learn how to write their first senetence. They had to crafeully write on the lines and remembering to use finger spaces between the words. We are so proud of them!

Inquiry Showcase

We would love to invite parents and carers to our F/1/2 Inquiry Showcase on Thursday 27th March from 2:45-3:15 pm. This will be in the F/1/2 Classrooms.

During this showcase, you will be invited to come and look at what we have been learning about in Inquiry. You will get a chance to walk around and look at what your child and other students have created.

This Term we have been learning about 'Community' and we will be creating our own community dioramas. If students have anything they would like to bring from home such as cardboard and boxes to create their dioramas that would be great! Doesn't need to be huge. We will start making these next week, so if they could start to collect them now and bring them in next week.
