P & C News

The P & C are a wonderful, approachable group of parents who work alongside the school. The P&C raise funds for facilities and equipment, are responsible for uniform choices and the meetings are a great place to hear about what's happening in the school. All our new families are warmly invited to join us.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
Thank you
Thank you to the amazing P&C and their volunteers with the Easter Raffle, Election Day Cake Stall and upcoming Mother’s Day Stall. The community appreciates the dedication of the committee and volunteers that make these run.
Bonds Rd Gate
Apologies for any inconvenience. Ongoing issues with automatic gate on Bonds Rd. More problematic during the wet weather. We were working with the company who installed the gate; however, we have now moved to working closely with DoE Assets. Current diagnosis of the issue is movement within the pole, preventing the magnets to align and therefore close. Until we can correct the gate, we will continue to access the middle pedestrian gate.

· Indicators for English and Mathematics
· Grades and Effort scales in each KLA
· Skills and Attributes
· Extra-Curricular Activities
· Attendance

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Mother’s Day Stall
· The Mother’s Day stall is on this week Thursday
· All is on track; gifts have been delivered to school and Archie will bring the remaining gifts from the storeroom
· We have had a good turnout of volunteers wanting to participate in the stall this year so that’s great
Outdoor Movie Night
· An email was sent out for expressions of interest on Wednesday 30 April 2025.
· 5 volunteers have put their hand up with this space
· Agreed that the volunteers will move forward with initial planning and report back to the meeting.
Election Cake Day stall
· Was a huge success – thank you to Siobhan who planned and ran with the project
· Siobhan will discuss shortly the details and how much was made on the day.
Easter Raffle
· The raffle was a success
· The donations is much appreciated and a big shout out to Hayaat and Moussa for their hard work
· Thank you to all the volunteers who helped on the day and behind the scenes for the raffle day to be a success
· We made $1606.45
ELECTION CAKE STALL:
· Siobhan B updated on the Election Day Cake Stall.
· 13 parents and 5 students/alumni volunteered on the day.
· We received lots of donations.
· A big thank you to everyone who volunteered and donated.
· The event was a success with a nice community feel and appreciation. We even had people who had voted elsewhere come to the school for cakes. There was some disappointment of no BBQ, but it wasn’t possible this year due to the short notice and school holidays.
· Total profit from the event was $1,584.21 (cash $1184.10, square reader $596.50, costs $196.40)
GENERAL BUSINESS:
COLA project-
o The department has approved the COLA for outside the kindergarten area.
o This is a smaller hard roof COLA than originally planned as the department would not approve as large as we’d hoped. The plan is to supplement the COLA with a shade sail area. If we submit forms quickly enough then we could have the project done in the July school holidays. Moussa C raised that we may be able to get a grant from government that would cover a fair portion of the costs, as indicated by Mark Coure. It was agreed that we should delay the project to be able to apply for the grant.
Use of P&C funds
o Siobhan B asked what we plan to use the funds P&C has raised for.
o Generally agreed that we would like to assist the school with purchasing things of benefit to the children.
o Kristy Bentley asked if the P&C could donate some money towards the COLA project. Generally agreed this would be a good use of funds. Amount to be donated to be determined at a future date
Bank Accounts
o Sarah M explained that we’ve not been able to add the President and Treasurer to the bank accounts yet. The issue is that the account was established in the school name, not the P&C name. Westpac has referred us to the ‘Know Your Customer’ team for identification and to correct the account name/ownership. They’re requiring information that we don’t have at this stage, e.g. P&C date of establishment. Previous members of P&C have been reached out to to see if they have the dates, with no luck.
o Mrs Bentley confirmed that the bank account does not belong to the school. It is a P&C bank account.
o Sarah will make further enquiries to find out the information Westpac needs.
o In the meantime, it was agreed that our previous treasurer, Jennifer H, can continue to process payments through the bank account if they are approved by our new treasurer, Sarosh Z’s. This is because Jennifer has access to the account while Sarosh does not yet.
Voluntary School Contribution
o A question was asked about why we did not receive the invoice for the voluntary school contribution this year, whereas other local schools did send invoices.
o Mrs Bentley confirmed that Department policy is that schools cannot invoice for the voluntary contributions.
o Our school now relies on the hiring fees paid by Attunga and the Canteen for additional funds. SRC is also raising money for student led projects like the soccer fields.
Year 6 Farewell
o The date is on Sentral – 17 December 2025.
o To be held at Olds Park Sports Club.
o Change of venue was due to some logistical issues with Jubilee community centre. At Jubilee the dance floor was too small and we also had to remove all of our own rubbish, meaning teachers loading their utes/cars up with rubbish at the end of the night for disposal. Year 6 farewell has previously been held at Olds Park and been successful.
UPCOMING MEETINGS:
The next P&C meeting date is 2 June 2025
MEETING CLOSED: 8:00pm
