Dear Skye Families,
Welcome to the Week 8 Newsletter!
We are thrilled to announce that our school website is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade, with the new version expected to go live within the next month. This project is an important step in modernising our online presence and ensuring our digital platform reflects the values and achievements of our school.
The upgraded website will feature improved navigation, mobile responsiveness, and updated content that highlights student successes and school initiatives. It will also provide easier access to information for prospective families and strengthen communication with our current community. We're excited to share a sneak peek of the moving image that will feature on the landing page—stay tuned!
This term, we proudly launched the first comprehensive Skye Primary School Instructional Model, marking a significant milestone in achieving our Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) goals for the year. This model is the result of extensive research into best practices and collaborative input from our dedicated teaching staff.
The implementation of this consistent instructional model ensures that every student receives high-quality teaching, regardless of their year level or classroom placement. By embedding a unified approach with shared language and evidence-based practices, we are fostering a culture of excellence and equity in education that drives student achievement.
The model incorporates explicit teaching strategies, formative assessment practices, and differentiated learning approaches to meet the diverse needs of our students. To support its successful implementation, our teachers are currently participating in professional development sessions designed to deepen their understanding and confidence in applying the model effectively.
We are excited to share more detailed information about the instructional model on our new website once it goes live. Stay tuned for updates!
Our long-running Breakfast Club continues to be a wonderful opportunity for students and families to connect over a warm piece of toast or a bowl of cereal. Running three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) from 8:15am to 8:45am, this service is made possible by our incredible volunteers, who create a welcoming and friendly environment for all who attend.
We kindly ask families to choose seating options close to the kitchen area to make the clean-up process easier for our volunteers, who work hard to ensure the space is ready for learning to begin promptly at 8:45am. A huge thank you to our volunteers for their dedication and care!
This week, we celebrated Harmony Day with great enthusiasm! It was heartwarming to see students and staff come together to embrace the message of inclusivity and respect. The sea of orange across the school was a beautiful reminder of the strength in our diversity.
A special thank you to our student leaders for organising activities that encouraged collaboration and understanding. From cultural performances to shared stories, the day was a true celebration of what makes our community so unique.
This week marks the conclusion of the NAPLAN assessments for our Year 3 and 5 students. I want to congratulate all students for their positive attitude and effort throughout the process. Sitting formal assessments in these conditions can be a challenging experience, and I commend them for giving it their best.
A big thank you also goes to our teachers, who dedicated many hours to supporting students in their preparation and managing the administrative side of the assessments. We expect to receive the results in early Term 3, and we look forward to sharing them with you.
Thanks for your continued support and engagement with our school. Have a great fortnight ahead!
Warm regards,
Tim
