What's coming up this fortnight?

We would like to extend a very big thank you for your support of us and the children over the past fornight as we completed the NAPLAN testing. We have been incredibly proud of the students focus and resilience. If you have any questions about the testing, please reach out and we are happy to answer them or refer you to additional information.

What's happening in the classrooms?

Literacy:

Throughout the last fornight the students have been looking at non fiction texts, specifically about peguins. Pierre the Penguin was our text and the students have had a range of reading and writing tasks to choose from such as designing a habitat and wetsuit! The students also had to form interesting questions to ask the marine biologist 'Pam' who looks after Pierre. The students can find the story below. Next week we will continue the theme and will look at Emperor penguins, learning some facts and details about them!

Numeracy:

Next week after finally finishing NAPLAN we will launch back into regular programming. So this means... Multiplication and Division! You can help at home by practising multiplication facts, singing skip counting and looking for everyday tasks where we use multiplication and division.

An example of a good skip counting song is below! Scratch Garden feature many videos which relate to many areas of Maths!

Inquiry:

We are about to launch into some important research about a disability each person is passionate about. We are doing some last minute pieces of immersion, looking at high profile people who have lived or are living everyday with a disability.

Wellbeing:

Ready to Learn Plans! We have had a few questions about these recently and we are building these as we speak! This week and next we will be looking at energisers and calmers. What this means is a brain break and strategy very much depends on what we need the break for. Is it to energise us for our learning, or to help us chill and regulate after lots of movement or thinking! These plans will be finalised by the end of the term, ready to use for Term Two.

Puzzles

3A has become addicted to working together doing puzzles! Check out a couple of their team efforts.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day is celebrated annually on March 21st. It is a day to celebrate Australia's rich cultural diversity and promote inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for all Australians. Check out our gorgeous students below!

Measuring Fun!

We finished our big week with a bit of cheeky fun! The students had to predict how tall their teacher was and make a paper chain to match! We will be finding out the results on Monday...

Need our emails? Here they are! Please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
