3/4 Learning Community

Literacy

In Literacy we have been learning about Matilda. We have focussed on how she got her revenge on her dad for being mean to her. We have used this plot line to inspire our own narrative. First we wrote an orientation and rising action. Next we will write a complication. We have also been looking at characters motivation, through small group discussions.

Mathematics

In maths we have been learning about number lines by subtracting and adding. We have also been learning about fact families. This method has made it a lot easier for us to add and subtract. We are all looking forward in the year for us to learning more ways.

Inquiry

In inquiry the 3/4 learning community has been learning about different countries, cultures and continents. We have looked at what they eat, wear, celebrate and what their traditions are. We have made our own paper costumes based off traditional outfits. We also learnt how to play African drums, as well making lots of crafts like lanterns, drawing traditional foods on a paper plate and gift boxes.

Wellbeing

We are learning about the Resilience Project. We have also been learning about how to control our emotions. We learnt about the different zones; Green Zone is when you are ready to learn, Blue Zone is when you’re sad, Yellow Zone is when you’re tired and Red Zone is when you are extremely angry. In Wellbeing we have special books that we do our tasks in.

Please make sure to look after your wellbeing and follow the Gleams!
